CHICAGO - These are dangerous times for ducks and geese in Chicago. With the city's ban on foie gras a delicacy made of duck or goose liver just days away from going into effect, upscale restaurants in the city are serving it up like never before.

They have put together special menus with names like "Foie Gras, Farewell To Our Good Friend" featuring that friend in course after course searing it, chilling it, throwing it into salads and turning it into sauce...

It is not until the last two to four weeks of their lives that the birds are brought into individual cages and force fed through a pipe to turn a regular-sized liver into foie gras. And even that process, he said, is not painful.

"By everybody's account it is not," he said.

How the hell does he know? Let's try it on him and he can tell us if it's painful or not.

Wow, that's a new way to define "everybody." So I guess the people who tell us of the feed spewing from the animals' nostrils, and how they routinely lose about 10% of them to exploded stomachs no longer count as part of "everybody."

If that's not painful and cruel, I guess there was nothing wrong with what Kevin Spacey did to the gluttony victim in Seven.

I didn't see anyone supporting the ban quoted in or referred to in the article.

I would like to say to that guy who said force feeding is not painful to let someone force a metal pipe down HIS throat and pour corn gruel down it! Then he can give a first hand account how it feels and if it is painful or not.

Seriously, I read about the chicago ban in Veg News recently and was glad to see it featured on CBS News. It is too bad that liver lust has taken over some of Chicago's eateries before the ban takes place, but such is the way of man (and woman). In the long run the ban will be the best thing. Now ---on to New York State where Hudson Valley Foie Gras produces 80% of all foi gras in the U.S.

Here is a website with information about the cruelty of force feeding ducks for the production of the French cuisine dish called Foi Gras (translated--duck liver).

http://www.nofoiegras.org/

Funny how fatty liver syndrome is an undesirable disease that requires treatment in humans, but somehow it's the goal for these ducks and geese.

My mom was watching the news tonight and they did a segment on the ban of foie gras. This lady was shown eating it in a hot dog bun and talking about how good it was. How disgusting! I wouldn't have even touched that stuff with a ten foot poll when I was an omni. How could anyone want to eat that stuff?

Here is a link to a CNN report on the Foie Gras ban (more proof of the "liberal media" ). Warning: this may piss you off.

And, oh yeah, here's a link to what a bunch of random blue-pills think about the ban.

For Example:

Quote:

Originally Posted by some random omni jabroni

Are you mad? Shall Chicago be known as Sweethome P.E.T.A.? For goodness sake, take a look ANY food and analyze the care of the livestock. Just because it is enjoyed by few I suppose it is easy to ban.

So you care about geese and ignore cows and chickens? Why not get on a plane and inspect all of McDonald's processing faculties and ban their restaurants? If as alderman you think you should be food police then equally apply your justice across all foods/delicacies. If fois gras should be banned, leave it to the federal govenment.

This seems relevant:

Quote:

Getting to the first stage is important...

Someone should raise Spike Milligan, a famous English comedian, from the grave:

Quote:

Protesting against cruelty to geese in the production of paté de foie gras, he attempted to chain the delicatessen buyer of Harrods down and force-feed him spaghetti.
