Does anyone know if Gardenburgers (original style) are truly vegetarian? They do contain cheese which, as the package notes, contain enzymes, but there is no indication as to whether the enzymes are animal-based. I cannot find a single reference to this online. The Gardenburger website is mute on the issue. Thanks.

I don't know for sure, but there certainly seems to be a trend in vegetarian-friendly foods away from animal rennet. I would think it's pretty unlikely to be animal rennet. I get the impression that even mainstream cheesemakers are moving away from animal rennet these days because microbiologically produced rennet is so much more cost-effective.

Yeah as said above i haven't hard of many cheesemaker using enzymes from animals. And i've never known gardenburger to be wrong about their titles(meaning when they say vegetarian or vegan its what they say) so i would guess its not animal based.
