Hey all,

Stressful day at work (so far) and I'm really craving cheese. Although I'm not vegan I'm leaning that way and trying real hard not to consume any animal products. (Still having trouble with coffee additives but I'm trying to just give up coffee.) Anyway, any ideas on a substitute that might get rid of the urge to eat some cheese??

Thanks!

Sometimes avocados help when I'm craving cheese it is the fat that I am craving..http://www.veggieboards.com/boards/s...ad.php?t=25520 also vegan gourmet soy cheese is supposed to be good...I've never had it.

Yeah, ok, I'm a little strange, but I would suggest either avocadoes OR some really good hummus.

As berrykat suggested, you might simply be craving fat (and salt)..? hummus, peanut butter, avocado, nuts... try that.

I admit I still eat cheese, but when I am craving it and don't want to eat it, I eat chocolate because like cheese, it releases endorphins.

Another good alternative creamy dip: Blend black olives w/ a little oil, water, garlic, salt. I like to also add some ginger, mustard seed, and green chile. Great w/ chips or crackers.

Many times it's a fat saltiness we crave , or that nutty saltiness of cheese

If you are not vegan, Soya Kaas Cheese (specifically mozzerlla) is really good. I was able to slice it and eat it as it before going veg.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I actually had some pistachios at work and I munched on those. That seemed to get rid of the craving so maybe it was the salt/ fat thing.
