I read that you can get vegan cat food but sometimes cats don't adapt well to vegan food, especially older ones. Some cats love tofu!!

Keep in mind that cats need taurine, which is an animal source. A feline lacking taurine can lose eyesight and could develop cardiomyopathy. But Montansat has found a non animal source of taurine for cats. Here's their URL:

http://www.montanasat.net/vegepet/forcats.html

Here's a bit more info:

http://www.vegancats.com/

http://www.vegepet.com/forcats.html

I am completely and utterly against feeding cats a vegan diet.

There are others here that do feed their cat vegan diets, however. Maybe they can help you.

Personally I wouldn't ever give a cat a vegan diet. A cat's normal diet in the wild is meat, they're hunters.

I've seen pictures of one cat in my life that has a vegan diet - it has a lot of problems and looks sickly (losing hair...). But might not be common either.

My cat likes vegetable/meat blended food, and tries to eat my soy food (ever try to eat with a cat laying on your head pawing at your food?).

Some vets even consider a cat eating veg*n food as being cruel and inhumane, because you're denying it it natural food.

I'll now leave this up to those that have first hand experience with it.
