My kitty Ella was desexed about... three months ago and now she has this strange sack like thing. It's like a big hanging skin thing. It doesn't hurt her and it's not full of fat or anything, but I was just wondering if this was a side effect of the desexing.

I know certain female dog breeds put on weight or get podgy belly... I hope someone knows the answer.

thanks.

My kitty has the same thing. We call it "the pouch," and it kind of dangles when she walks. I asked the vet about it, and he said that she just has extra skin under there, and not to worry about it - it won't hurt her. It's been 7 years since my kitty's spaying, and she's fine. People do ask about it, though; I just tell them that she's part possum.

LOL @ firebird.

I rang my vet (mum told me too) and they said she hadn't had her free check up after being desexed and they explained it was normal and would probably go away six months after she's been desexed.

On the way to the vet's she shredded her box and escaped into the car. So I bought her a proper cage, she was much happier on the way home.
