Riiiiighhhtt....

so I start my car today and a belt is squeeling really loudly, checked online and after looking at some sites I figured it was still drivable, at least for a few days until I could get it fixed.

So I get about 50 yards out and the belt snaps, smoke going everywhere. I stop the car and open hood to air it out/see if somethings on fire/etc. Belt is snapped, yay. So I start it and its still drivable, so i turn around and bring it back home to go online again and check google.

Call a mechanic. Turns out it was the powersteering/ac compresser belt. Wierd.

The only thing that has changed in the last couple days, was that I put some sort of "super AC system sealer" in because my ac had a leak. It's supposed to seal metal, rubber, and plastic leaks, over the entire AC system. I wonder if it's possible that the sealer leaked out and "sealed" the pully. A belt going over a frozen pully = no fun. It doesn't seem like it would... but thats the only thing I can think of that would cause all that smoke and a otherwise fine belt breaking.

Anyone know if that is possible?

meh. At least its drivable I guess. Thank God that the belt didn't go over the alternater too... at least now I can drive it to a repair shop.

I wonder if I can sue the "super sealer" company for breaking my belt.
