Hello group,

I am a 53-year-old male, generally in good health, father of 3, grandfather of 1 with 1 more in the way. In the fall of 2016, I had blood-work done. I was about 180 lbs (5' 5"). My numbers were starting to rise, though not high enough for meds. That winter/spring, my brother-in-law had a scare with colon cancer, he's fine for now. I had to make a decision to do something with/for my life.

In June 2017, I made that decision. I went Whole Foods Plant Based. I was very surprised, the transition was very simple in that I never craved for meat, dairy, cheese or any of the crap that I usually shoved down my throat. The hardest part, learning to cook for my new lifestyle.

The local gym opened in September of 2017. I do four days of weight training and one day of cardio. Since June, I have dropped 45 lbs in fat, gained some muscle and now I am around 13% body fat. I have not had another blood test since the fall of 2016, this should come this fall. I am sure that my numbers will show a great improvement.

I feel great, I look better, I need new clothes :) and I am loving the foods that I cook. The only part that I find hard now is the amount of misinformation that exists everywhere. My mission, should I choose to accept it, is to spread the message. If I can help one person change their lifestyle and become healthy, then I have succeeded.

I look forward to meeting you all in the coming days, months and years. Please teach me, encourage me and thank me if I warrant it.

Cheers from Canada!

Scott

I know!!!

If you simply commit to making yourself better through diet (which it sounds like your doing an amazing job of already) you will be very surprised at how many people around you develop a curiosity for bettering themselves through diet as well. I rarely if ever tell people to stop eating meat, but so many of my meat eating friends have come to me for advice when the time is right for them.

Oh and welcome to the forums.
