A lot of rescue groups often need help transporting animals since they take in animals across the country as well as adopting them out across the country. They generally divide the trip into one hour segments and look for people at each stopping point who can help transport the animal to the next stop.

I'm going to start helping transporting dogs, and will be making my first transport this weekend for a blind boston terrier who's going to his new home after spending the last year in a shelter.

Does anyone else do this? I'd be interested in hearing your stories.

If you're interested in helping transport animals there are email groups for nearly every state in the united states on yahoo where they send emails out looking for people available in certain cities whenever a transport is being done. just go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/XXpetrescue where XX equals the abbreviation of your state. So if you live in New York, change the XX to NY, etc.
