Today I heard that the "leader of the 'free world'" thanked the Australian people for their support in his threatening of war on Iraq. I asked myself, What the ****!?

Does he know about anything outside of his own country? Oh... wait.... of course not.

So someone, please keep him up-to-date.

I don't think he knows what's going on inside his country.

It makes me just so angry when people refer to the president of the USA as "the leader of the free world". Is the US the only country that is free and that Australia is not? Or does this somehow mean he is our leader too? Oh wait, we didn't get to vote for him (which would me he is a dictator) and that must we aren't free anyway. Sorry for the rant, guys, but the "leader of the free world" thing ticks me off. Escpecially when people say it and mean it. (I know you didn't Kurmudgeon.)

He means he is your leader too, bc I guess we have the most bombs, the most weight to throw around. That's what I've always assumed. But it implies that of all the free countries, everyone will automatically go along with the US, which he is now finding is not the case.

i always thought it was stupid too, to refer to the prez as leader of the free world. my country has it's own leader thanks. and i like him a lot better than Bush. at least Chretien doesn't try to sell off the last of our wilderness behind our backs. that i'm aware of.

so i take it Australia does not support Bush right now? i don't keep up with american politics. or any politics really, waste of time.

I sure didn't vote for him, neither did the majority of the American people. If Clarence thomas and Antonio Scallia had excused them selves from the case like they should of for having personal conflicts (immediate family members on the Bush election team) the recount vote would have gone the other way. Course gore should have asked for a all of Florida recount rathern than only in democratic strongholds. It looked too much like hunting for votes.

I'd heard one of his bodyguards chews pretzels for him now, to make them softer for him to eat.

This is a hard one. Our Prime Minister is Bush's Little Lap Dog (aka John Howard). Like Bush, he won his last election on a minority (the current Federal govt. is a merger between two parties, niether which gained a majority of the primary vote), and every State govt. is against him. Latest pollings show over 80% of the population are against war with Iraq, and over 60% are against war with Iraq even if the UN find WMD and sanctions it. Yet Howard has already sent troops. Not a good situation.

Have you heard the details of the proposed Free Trade Agreement Johnny Coward might be making with the US? Scary stuff.

Although..... we'd get special protection from the US. Bring on the GMOs!

Please don't pick on my friend George "W" Bush. He sends me free stationary from the WhiteHouse.

Anyone else notice that "War" starts with "W"?

So does "Wanker".

and "Wicked". (not the good wicked, the bad wicked)

and "Who put him in charge"?

and "Wonder-idiot"!

and "Wookie".

But Wookies are nice, so I think that one is just a fluke.

Although they will tear your arm out of it's socket if they lose, that sort of sounds familiar.

Leader of the free world? I think he means "free for the taking"...

Okay, I will shut up now and leave you nice folks alone.

Can you explain to me how your list of "W" words proves that President Bush is a bad person? Else it's just bashing, and I have yet to have bashing convince me of anything (as far as I can remember.)

I've seen the same alliteration used in arguments before (not here), in letters to the editor, editorials, etc, and I've never seen it in an overt attempt to be humorous. My appologies to 1vegan for potentially misunderstanding.

I offer apologies to you skylark, and anyone else who may have been offended by my post. I was attempting to be humourous, oftimes my attempts are met with little success.

No hard feelings at all. I didn't know if you were trying to be funny, and now that I do know, it makes sense.
