If you have enough money to bring you a certain amount of freedom independance and access to opportunity then I believe it can assist in bringing a person happiness. But money in and of itself doesn't bring happiness I don't believe.
I've had the privilege of knowing many wealthy people in my life, and I can state without hesitation that maturity, wisdom, good judgement, intelligence, and compassion are a helluva lot more important than money.
