Hi budda! Missed you! Have you been hamstering?

What's everyone up to? I don't know if I'll get any biking in today. But, I'll be doing a little walking as I tour gardens this afternoon.

Hey, slynny, I'm thinking of you today. Hoping the 5K went great!

Hi Budda!

Well, yesterday I ran my first half marathon (13.1 miles). I wasn't sure how it would go since I've been having knee problems, but that week I took off running defently helped. I was able to run the entire thing and felt great at the end.
It was lots of fun. Now I can't wait to do another. I don't even have any knee pain today so I'm very happy about that. I even beat my dad.
He came in only two minutes behind me though.

I hope all you hamsters are having a great weekend!

I'm taking it easy today. Yesterday's run was extra long, plus I played some serious laser tag last night (maybe "serious" isn't the word, but it did involve a lot of running <and some hiding>), so now I'm sore. I don't think I'll be doing anything beyond my upper body weights, yoga, and some swimming.

CaptainSwab -- congrats on the half-marathon!! That's awesome! Here I am saying my 45 minute run was long. Do you mind if I ask how long it took you to complete it?

Hey Johnny, this is your first post here, right? Welcome to the Hamsters! Sky is our super-biker.
There are some other cyclists, but I can't always keep track of who does what.

Hey Mskedi - hey, 45 minutes is a long run!

It took me 2 hours and 15 minutes to complete it. Just over 10 and a half minutes a mile, which is really good for me. Usually when I go out for my long runs, they are 11 and a half minute miles, so I was happy.
I guess it was the adrenaline rush.

Welcome to the hamsters Johnny.

(oh how good it feels to be able to post in an exercise thread, I'm just such a lazy bum!)

The other day I took a 12,000 step walk and if it wasn't so hot I'd done it yesterday, too. I'll take another long walk tonight, when the sun's down and it's not boiling outside anymore.

Hi Hamsters,

CaptainSwab! Awesome!
Congrats! That's a great time! I run my long ones at 11mm too.

Budda,so glad your back!

Sky, thanks for thinking of me
Well, my run did not go to well. It was cold 50's and raining buckets...I was sloshing through mucky ankle deep puddles in a heavy down pour. I started out strong but then I died...finished in 27 min. blah! But hey the rain cut out the competition...I finished 2nd in my age division...hehehe

and yes there were more than two of us...but not many

Azalea, Great walk!

Mskedi, Excellent run!

Welcome new Hamsters!!

Way to go Hamsters!

Cheers for CaptianSwab and Slynny!! Way to go you super awesome running hamsters! The times sound great. Your 5K wasn't bad at all, Slynny. Maybe miserable because of the weather though. I'm just amazed at both of you! Wow!

Mskedi, great running! And Azalea - fantastic walking!

Welcome VegAnna and Johnny Mayberry! Glad you are here!

All you runners are making me jealous! My goal by the end of the summer is to be able to run continuously for at least a half hour. Right now I'm working on building up intervals.

Today I took a fast 1/2 hour walk. I'm also going to be doing a cardio/strength circuit for an hour shortly, alternating running with strength moves every five minutes. After that, I'll be doing a nice 10 minute stretch.

Keep up the great work, everyone!!!

Hey thanks guys! I'm going to try another one this weekend

Flower, You can do it and you're doing exactly the right thing. Work into it little bit at a time. I started by walking, then power walking, then running/walking, then running, then lengthening my runs. You have to keep pushing yourself, physically and mentally. BTW...the run I did this weekend was the Peninsula Park run in Door County...we were up there camping...early before most of the flat landers were up

VegAnaconda, nice to se you! Please join us more often.

Johnny, tell me about it

Thanks for the encouragement, Slynny! Believe it or not, I've never been to Door County. We usually take a long road trip every year, but for the next couple of years we might just explore Wisconsin a little bit. Congrats on your run, BTW!

Okay, I have to cut what I wrote earlier. I did the upper body weights and the stretching, but my swimming basically consisted of me doing one half-hearted lap and then sitting in a jacuzzi because it was cold tonight. So much for that! Maybe I should stay with not posting my exercise until after I've actually done it.

CaptainSwab & Slynny -- great times for the both of you!

Flower -- you're doing fabulously. My first running goal when I recently started up again was 30 minutes continuously and I only recently met it, so you'll get there!

Sky -- great biking!

VegAnaconda -- are you going to join us? Have you already and just not posted?
