I was thinking about your triathalon, too, CaptainSwab. Be sure to post about it!

I haven't done any hampstering this weekend. I think I did something evil to my back. . . and I can't pinpoint what or when, but yesterday it started really hurting, and my posture's messed up today because it hurts so much. . . we were doing backbends and other inversions in yoga this week, and then yesterday morning I was lifting heavy boxes (packing up the apt) . . . it's all in my lower back. I also have PMS and get bad lower backaches then, so hopefully this is just the combination effect - one factor exacerbating another.

Anyway, does anyone have any suggestions? I've tried taking it easy, hot baths, and a little bit of tylenol. . . and a little stretching yesterday to get rid of the tension.

Haven't done a thing since Thursday when I walked 6.5 km. Friday was way too busy and had heavy stuff to take to school. Saturday I was way too tired and believe it or not today we're in the middle of a blizzard! The most exercise I had today was taking pictures off the wall as my husband painted. Hope tomorrow goes better.

Hi Hamsters! Thanks for all the good wishes.

Well, the triathlon was a great experience.

The swim was intresting because it was only in four feet of water. We went out in heats, all the women were grouped together. We all started out swimming but quickly found out that it was faster to run in the water! It was funny. Anyways, that was only a quarter of a mile.

The bike ride was 10 miles. I was wondering why it was so short. In most sprint distances, its about 15 miles, but now I know why. They advertised it as an easy flat off roading course. It wasn't flat by a long shot! I was afriad to go down the hills really fast because there were so many crevices in the trails and huge rocks in the way. Lots of people passed me on the downhills. There were tons of sharp turns that were really sandy so you had to slow to nothing to go around them. There was this hill with such a big ravine that you had to walk your bike up it (even the top athletes). Not to mention that the low gears on my bike were not working properly. It was fun though.

The run was 3 miles and I had no trouble at all with it. I was worried after that type of biking that I wouldn't have the energy to do the run, but I could have gone a longer distance than what I had to. The run was a releif after the bike ride.

Everybody at the race was really great. Everyone was cheering everyone else on and motivating other people. It was so much fun. I will defintly be doing somehting like this again in the future.

hi everyone! glad to see everyone again, I hope your back gets better Matchgirl.

Isabella, it's ok. I can relate, seeing as I have taken week breaks off of hamstering .

And captainswab, im jealous...triathlete is such a cool title.

Anyway, so on friday I went to the y and I did an upper body weight workout, a little abs, 10 minutes on the stairmaster, and 10 minutes on the elliptical.

Yesterday I wen back to the Y, did a lower body workout(SO HARD) less abs than the night before but still a little, and 25 minutes on the bike.

Today I did "the firm cardiosculpt" which was also really long and hard. I promised myself i would finish the whole tape, and I did, and i'm proud of myself. I was sweating buckets.

I know what you mean Kathym. My exercise yesterday was like that. I had to assemble a pantry that is as tall as me and the box was really heavy to move by myself. Then I had to put it all together. Hammers and drills are such marvelous things!

Today was great. I did my AM yoga tape, my bellydancing tape, about 15 minutes of a low impact aerobics tape, walked Dixie for 30 minutes, did about 15 minutes on the weight machine, rocked out to some kick @ss music throughout the day, and other various little things. It felt good.
