I solved the "no option but McDonald's while on the road" problem by keeping a constant stash of bagels with me...but that's just me

I've never tried the BK veggie burger though. I'm always afraid that they'll mix up my order or something and give me a beef patty...

I had the BK veggie burger a couple weeks ago. Not as good as my boca burgers at home but it was better than just a salad. The patty is cooked in the microwave so it never touches meat
I'm another sad one who really misses the pitas at Wendy's. I loved their veggie one, and I wasn't even vegetarian at the time! I haven't tried BK's veggie burger, but it's good to know there's an option there if I need it. I don't think whether it's great is the issue-- I don't think anybody can really argue that anything coming out of a fast food chain is exactly the pinnacle of gourmet eating.

As far as PETA supporting McD's, it may be sleeping with the enemy, but my understanding is that they were able to secure improvements in factory farms and slaughterhouses across the nation by pressuring McD's, the nation's largest purchaser of beef, to change its policies, and agreeing to publicly support them was the concession they had to make to get those changes. Sure it's a long way from the ideal world where no animals are exploited or killed for food, but apparently PETA doesn't belive in turning up its nose at baby steps if that's what it can get. I happen to agree with that philosophy.
I've never had the BK veggie burger, but I'm glad that they're at least offering a veggie alternative. There's a McD's in the food court at my local mall, and everytime I walk by it, there's always a big line of people. It bugs me to see their ads for their healthy foods, like the salads and that fruit-walnut-yogurt dish. I'm glad that they have healthier choices, but adding healthy foods onto your menu makes the rest of the menu look healthier. Adding healthy foods onto the menu gives the whole menu a healthy feel to it. However, McD's could add 3 new veggie burgers, hummus w/whole wheat pita bread, wheatgrass juice, and organic sprout salad, and their Quarter Pounder w/cheese will STILL be an artery-clogger.

i agree that ruby tuesday has the best veggie burger, but not exactly "fast food"...we tried the bk veggie burger years ago--think it might have even been a test market, but they tasted awful to us! maybe they've changed them since--?? i love the idea of buying the veggie burger so there's a demand for them and the company continues to offer them, etc, but they just didn't taste good...
Spikey, this was almost a 3 year old thread before you revived it, lol...

As for me, I don't go to fast food resteraunts usually. Rarely I will go to Taco Time, Subway, Mr.Sub, or something with vegan items, but I prefer to eat at healthier resteraunts.
I think fast food has it's place. Save it for when you are in a hurry and really need it. Eating fast food on a regular basis is to be avoided.

I'm going into finals in my massage course and I've already failed one of two classes so pressures are high. The other day it was getting to 2 pm and I still hadn't eaten lunch so I biked over and treated myself to subways.

Apparently demand is low for the vegetarian garden burger at subway and I was told I'm one of two people to order it. I think that's a shame because they will probably stop selling it.

I realize it's probably best to support a real vegetarian place if there is one, but for the rest of us not living in places with lots of other vegetarians, it would be nice to keep supporting places that offer vegetarian options.
