Pizza. I was scared to brave the "weirdness" that is a cheeseless pizza. It was my biggest downfall with dairy. Tonight, my man wanted to order pizza. I decided then and there I wanted it without cheese. Stuff it! And you know what? It was nicer than with cheese... no greasy aftertaste, and easy on the stomach!

YAY! Sorry, I had to share with people who can actually understand why I'm so proud of it. LOL

That's good to hear, shewolf.

At one place I used to work at, some people (especially one of my supervisors) used to like to have slices of the cheeseless vegetarian pizzas I would order..... they (especially my supervisor) said it was better than "normal" pizza.

Go you!

Pizza is my biggest downfall, too. Last time I opted to just not have any at all, but I really should try it without cheese... it just seems so pointless that way!
I will try it the next time we go out for pizza.

I didn't think I could give up regular pizza either. But I really like cheeseless pies now. I find that getting fresh garlic on it adds so much flavor that I forget about the lack of cheese. Plus it's so much healthier and less fat that cheese pies, that I don't feel guilty eating too much of it

Everyone always thinks this is so weird, but I actually grew up eating this *amazing* cheeseless pizza from this place in my hometown that doesn't exist anymore. Even stranger: it was always served at room temperature, and had this layer of incredible, rich, almost paste-like sauce on top. Doesn't sound great I know, but man was it good. Now I'm really missing it!
Guess I should have thought of this for that "lost foods" thread a while ago...

The Ralphs market here sells a focaccia that sounds exactly like that cheeseless "pizza" you had silverfish. It's great. I think that Stella d'Oro company makes it, the same company that makes those little Italian amaretti cookies and ladyfingers. It's vegan and really good.

I made cheeseless pizza last night as a matter of fact, and it is always so much better than the kind with cheese. You can actually taste something other than rubber

I usually make ours with whole wheat crust, tons of sauce and oddly enough, we top it with sliced pickeled jalapenos, mushrooms and corn. It's surprisingly good.

congrats! it really is best w/out cheese. it really brings a lot more flavor to the sauce which is why i love pizza anyway. this weekend i went to cali pizza kitchen and didnt completely read the menu and ordered a cheeseless pizza, no big deal, but i didnt realize it was one of those sauceless pizzas only containing olive oil. ugh now that was not a good pizza.

I had my first cheeseless pizza today too!!!

My mother, who annonced that she was NOT eating any of it, because she KNEW she wouldn't like it... had two slices.
I thought it was really good! We had mushrooms, green peppers, and black olives on ours. It was very tastey and easy on the stomach, plus we got the thin crust, which is much lighter.

So, if you haven't tried cheeseless pizza, try it! It's great!

When you make your crust at home, you might want to add some spaghetti sauce the crust for more flavor. My mom does that regularly, and my family loves it!
