I know a great number of highly-educated yet unemployed US citizens who blame their government and society for all of their woes, and want to move to Canada where they can not work and get free health care just for being alive. Where shall I put them?

7. Together with Alfred the Great, Henry is traditionally called one of the founders of the Royal Navy. There are good reasons for this - his reign featured some naval warfare and, more significantly, large royal investment in shipbuilding (including a few spectacular 'great ships' such as the Mary Rose), dockyards (such as HMNB Portsmouth) and naval innovations (eg the use of cannon onboard ship - although archers were still deployed on medieval-style forecastles and bowcastles as the ship's primary armament on large ships, or co-armament where cannon were used). However, it is a misnomer since Henry did not bequeath to his immediate successors a 'navy' in the sense of a formalised organisation with structures, ranks, formalised munitioning structures etc, but only in the sense of a set of ships (albeit some spectacular ones).

Brief intro: There is not much I wish to reveal about my personality or life for fear of looking really uninteresting and downright boring. I'd rather hold back let you use your imaginations to find me mysterious and curiously complex, if not altogether irritating. I like toast, puppets, and getting free gifts with magazine subscriptions. I like short walks on long beaches, nonrhyming couplets, and that feeling you get when you sit on a seat that a complete stranger has just warmed up.

What is the strangest thing you have ever seen in RL?

Probably the one time I was riding my bike down some local trails that cut through an industrial section. It was there that I saw a man and a woman in their mid- to late 40sshe with her pants down bent over a VW bug, he with his pants down loving her from behindall this from no more than twenty feet away. And they just continued on with less shame than you would expect from a couple of dogs rutting in the park.

What made it worse is that I was alone and had nobody to make a punch-buggy joke with.

What is the meaning of life?

Some would suggest you live like you were dying, but in my experience people who know they are dying are downright miserable and seldom have much fun with it. So I suggest you live like you were living. I don't know. If you ask me we're all alone in a godless universe with just the beer light to guide us.

What's the first concert you ever saw?

With my dad because I begged him to take me, Rush on their Signals tour. Sometimes, when a Rush song comes on the radio late at night and I close my eyes, I can still smell the pot.

On my own I saw General Public at Massey Hall for my 14th birthday. It was great and all but I'd've given my left nut to see The English Beat.

What's the first CD you bought?

I'm going to super-size my answer, no charge:

First vinyl album: The Police: Outlandos d'Amour

First 45: Jon and Vangelis: Friends of Mr. Cairo

First CD: Love & Rockets: Express

First MP3 download: Styx: Mr Roboto

First MP3 deleted from my hard drive: Styx: Mr Roboto

What's the last concert you attended?

I went to the Virgin Music Festival last September mostly to see Wolfmother and pay $4 for their wide selection of two beers: Bud and Bud Lite.

But as flawlessly as the Aussie trio rocked, I don't think corporate sponsored outdoor festivals should be considered proper concerts.

So I would say it was Hawksley Workman at Massey Hall in late July. He did a stripped down set just him, a guitar (or four) and a guy on a piano and it was easily one of the best (and, rather surprisingly, funniest) concerts I have ever seen. But that is probably only because Disturbed cancelled their Toronto show, and the London (Ontario) and Montreal shows were sold out by then.

I hate the guys who put bills in their mouths and lay on their backs on stage. I don't know who I feel more sorry for. Any guy who would do that. Or the woman who would degrade herself like that for a mere fiver.

What's your favorite beer?

It changes all the time as I try new beers and get sick of old beers.

Currently, for no real reason, my beer tastes are incredibly patriotic: Cameron's Aubern Ale, Sleeman Fine Porter, J.P. Brickman's Pilsner (The J.P.B. Amber is good too).

In the summer I enjoy Grolsch Blond and/or Amseterdam Blond.

What beer are you dying to try?

Dogfish Head's Punkin Ale. Have you heard of it?

I'm trying to find anything even remotely Dogfishy here in Canada, but five liquor stores and two unanswered emails to the LCBO later...nada.

What do you think is the #1 misconception about beer?

That low carb beer was a good idea.

If you were floating in a raft in the ocean, and the ocean were made of beer, where would you pee?

It depends on what kind of beer it was. If it was an ocean of Heinken then it already tasted like wee.

Have you ever lost your swim trunks when swimming?

No. But I once, at the age of about six or seven, tried to poop in a lake with disastrous results.

Have you ever swallowed your chewing gum?

No. I don't swallow.

Did your chewing gum ever lose its flavor on the bedpost overnight?

If I so much as suspect that my gum is even thinking about losing flavour, I spit it out and start a new piece. So, no. Final answer.

Did you ever see your mommy kiss Santa Claus?

Yes. (True story.)
