Okay, now that I have your attention (and yes, this post does have to do with breasts. Patience)...

I woke up this morning, looked down, and thought "Whoa! I have boobs!" Being a girl, this should probably bring on a loud "Duh" from everyone, but typically I am a very small, non busty sort of girl. Barely-there boobs, that's me. Today, however, my breasts are swollen (OMG, they actually fully fill an A cup bra!) and very sore because (drumroll please) I have killer PMS right now. No wacko mood swings, thankfully, but I am retaining water like crazy. This happens every so often, and I've yet to find a solution that works. I've tried cutting out sodium and caffeine during that wondrous week before my period; I've tried dandelion and uva ursi teas, which are diuretics and do not work for me, although they make me super thirsty and craving bananas (potassium loss, ya know?); I've tried drinking tons of water. A hard workout usually works, and helped for a while this afternoon, but I'm not feeling so well so I didn't really push myself. While this will pass within the next day or so, it's still rather uncomfortable.

So, any helpful advice?

Welcome to the club!

I have very large breasts and they get even larger sometimes (thankfully, I don't have PMS often).

Don't push yourself. If it's uncomfortable, stop.

Wear a firm supporting bra. Wear a couple tight shirts.

Hold your breasts in your hands whenever alone, so they don't move. If you feel riduclous, think about how stupid you'd feel if someone was watching.

Drink water, eat well, rest.

Take a bubble bath.

Take an anti-inflammatory.

Wear a push-up bra and pass the swelling off as a boob job.

Thanks, Krista. I usually wear a sports bra, since most regular bras are, well, baggy on me.

I think I'll go take an anti inflammatory, a go read in a bubble bath.

Thanks again.

mine have been all over the map. when I was on hormone therapy, they got up to a 32DD when I had PMS, about 32C-D normally. I also have fibro-cystic breasts, and those things are nasty when they swell and grow.

now they're substantially smaller, but they still hurt. I have found that vitamin E helps some, but that might just be because of my cysts. to sleep in, try those camisole/bra type things - almost like a really tight spaghetti strap shirt - that give you support all over without anything incredibly binding to sleep in. I wake up less sore because of those. you can also wear one of those as an undershirt over your sports bra during the day, sort of like krista suggested. helps me out.

I have very tiny boobies as well. When they swell up (which isn't very often, unfortunately. LOL) I follow Krista's advice and wear a pretty bra and a tight shirt and prance around as if I'm Miss America.

I had mine once compared to halved watermelons.

But, in a push-up bra and a a tight shirt, I become a walking weapon of mass destruction. that's why I don't wear one when I visit the US

I hate having big boobs. I wear a 34DD. I can never find bras in my size. I guess I have a small ribcage or something. I can only find them at Nordstroms in my size (which we all know is f#$#% expensive). Anywhere else they sell 38 and up DD. Its annoying. Especially since I like running. I have to wear two bras when I run. When I competed in my tri, most women just wore their bathing suits the whole time. Yeah right. Not me. I wore two bras under my bathing suit and then a shirt over it. I was the only person swimming with a shirt AND shorts.

Anyways, sorry. Sometimes its good to whine about how much I hate them. I don't have swelling problems or any other PMS problems related to boobs so I'm guess I'm lucky in that aspect.

I used to wish I had bigger boobs, but now I'm glad I don't, mostly for the reasons you mentioned Captain Swab. Have you tried looking online for bras? There's a company that advertises in the back of Vegetarian Times...if I remember this weekend, I'll post the URL. They claim to have oodles of sizes. Might be cheaper than Nordstroms.

I have tried looking online...Title9sports.com looks like they have some great support bras, but they are 50 bucks each which is how much they cost at nordstroms. They look like they have way more support though so next time I need to buy one, I might try one of those.

I pay over $100 CDN for my bras. Hence, I only have 1 that fits perfectly and 2 that sorta fit under a sweater.

I plan to have my breasts fixed, but not until they sag

I usually have no trouble finding 34 D bras... swimsuits are the issue. For some reason it is assumed that only small chested women go swimming? I don't understand why they only make small swimsuit tops... It does not make sense.
