Last night I had a vegetarian patty melt. This place down the street - just a regular upper-casual family restaurant chain type of joint had a good v-burger I heard, but then I went there and they had it in patty melt form and it was BOMB'N* !!!

So besides the burger, and the patty melt, and subway's horrid veggiemax (I'm offended by the suggestion that *I* am the sandwich), what other veg-alternative sandwiches are out there?

*That's good.

Hey Max- Have you ever gone to the Deerpark (is that even still there?) They use to have a middle eastern platter with hummus and tabouli and pita and stuff. I remember it being quite tasty. What place are you talking about?

Are you kidding? They're renaming it "Maxpark" on account of I LIVE there! Okay, hardly. But it's the ONLY bar on main street I'll go to. What's weird is, I didn't even know Deepark made food until a few weeks ago - I really only go on Thursday nights (which reminds me.....) and it's too busy to eat. I'll check it out. I like Iron Hill's Hummus Spread. Although it doesn't have Tabouli, they give you olives and veggies and stuff.

The samwidge was at Houlihan's by Christiana Mall.

PS - If you haven't been to the Deerpark in about the last 1.5 years, they close it for renovation for like 6 months. I never went to the old one, but I hear the new one is much less college-grungy.

I haven't been to Newark in about 4 years! Has it been that long? Time flies. I swear I use to live on Main St. There use to be a diner there called Jude's. That was the best. Now I've gotten myself all nostalgic

Max, I can't believe I forgot to mention Capriotti's Sub shop. Ever been there? There are a few in Wilmington, in West Chester and I'm thinking maybe Newark too. They have a veg turkey sub ( though it's not vegan ) and veggie burger subs and veggie dogs. Most of my veggie friends seem to live off of Capriottis.
