I hate that.<br><br><br><br>
I am very careful with giving away my number.<br><br>
It's not listed in the book.<br><br><br><br>
Most likely an organisation you gave your number sold it to some company ....

I love it when they call me and tell me that I've been preapproved for their Mastercard/Visa. I usually let out a squeal of joy and say "Oh THANK YOU JESUS, I never thought I'd ever be able to get credit again for the rest of my life!!" That usually gives them pause . . . <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/grin.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":D"><img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/grin.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":D">

They are illegal in the united states. Write your state attorney general with all information you have about them. You may also be able to sue them in small claims court. I have some links to some sites that tell about this. The problem has been getting worse lately, so we need to try to stand up for ourselves. OH has an online complaint form for the attorney general. Your state may have one, too.

I like how they try to make you feel special about getting preapproved.

Telemarketers are sooooo annoying! Every few weeks I get a recorded message on my machine from this one stupid telemarketer about how I can win some trip by signing up for whatever it is he is talking about. I'm so sick of hearing his voice of my machine! (at least they call while I'm at work so I dont actually have to answer the phone!)

I've never heard a recorded telemarketing message! I seldom even get telemarketers. I do get Jehovah's Witnesses though. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/grin.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":D"> I think the 'heathen' must ooze out of my pours and attract them.

i like recorded telemarketers, they are the only people i feel comfortable hanging up on. Otherwise i have to stay on the phone explaining that i dont want what they are trying to sell.

Really? Heh, I just say "ok great... this sounds good, hang on a second please." Then I lay the phone down next to one of my speakers and put on some (really bad) Yoko Ono music I downloaded and go about my work. I've often wondered how much they endure before hanging up.

You should record yourself saying "No thank you" over and over, and when a live telemarketer calls play it to them.<br><br><br><br>
I was screwing around with a telemarketer about investment oportunities. After the initial call (where I expressed an interest in those opportunities), the next time they called back to organise a meeting time I said "Oh, Kurmudgeon has gone away for a few weeks" (I disguised my voice).<br><br>
So after a few weeks they called back and I kept organising a date for them to call back to see if I had spare time to discuss it. This went on for a while, then I finally told them I changed my mind about it all. The guy (it was always the same guy) sounded quite annoyed.<br><br>
Didn't cost me a cent, only required a few minutes of my time every few weeks, and gave me satisfaction.

As soon as I figure out what it is, I talk right over them and say, "Sorry not interested" and hang up.<br><br><br><br>
When I have more patience, I ask who they are and tell them to put me on their do not call list. If they violate that more than twice in the next year, you can sue for $500.

" or is exempted by sec. 64.1200(c)."<br><br><br><br>
Great. Let's see if anyone can find section 64.1200(c) and see exactly when they <i>are</i> allowed to call people at home.
