My boyfriend and I were watching a wedding show on LOGO (the gay and lesbian network) so we started talking about alternative weddings. I mentioned that my mom is very traditional (she is controlling, but she doesn't mean to be) and told me that I can't have a vegan wedding if I expect people to show up.

My boyfriend started like really sticking up for having a vegan wedding! He said that we can get a fancy vegan caterer and that any person will find something that they like. I said but what about my mother and he said that as far as tradition goes...that our wedding will be non-traditional anyway since he is involved (he has practically no friends and family), so we will have whatever we want.

I thought it was sweet because he isn't even vegan! But, he is always so supportive and tells me all the time that when we live together/get married, that everything in the house must be vegan so that I can eat it hehe.

I just wanted to share!

Meh. I feed people vegan food all the time and don't even tell them until after they finish it up and say something like "mmmm...that was good".

I am so freakin jealous of you! My bf dosent want to hear about anything I see, or find out about animal abuse. He eats meat happily. Just yesterday I tried to tell him about the slideshow pictures of a slaughterhouse I watched here, all I was saying was that it was filthy and the people werent even wearing gloves. But he like got real defensive and said "Well they need to work, they are People!" And when I tried to say that I was just wanting to say that it was dirty he said "SO!". I walked away with tears in my eyes. Then we went to the grocery store and he asked me why I was "Down". You! You a-hole! Sorry, still mad about it. We have been together for three years and I always thought he was cool with it, but lately he has been saying things that deepens my depression. Like I was thinking of buying some different kind of veggie burgers and I asked him if he had ever had that kind (his mom is a vegetarian and he has had some veggie stuff), and he snapped at me "How would I know!" It makes me want to cry just thinking about it. I cant talk to him about anything animal related or my feelings on anything anymore. I wish I could be with someone like me, I love him but I dont think things are going to get any better. Sucky thing is we bought a house together! All I have is my dogs and cats. At least I am not completely alone I guess.

I have a good boyfriend, he treats me VERY well most of the time. I think that he just cant get it that I need to talk about things. He takes everything with a grain of salt and dosent let things get to him and cant understand why I do. When I posted above I was still angry about it. It will always sting, but I will get over it. Basically, I get very depressed and feel alone a lot of times, and when I wrote the above post I was feeling very down. For the most part I am happy with my relationship, he stops along the road and picks up stray animals, he takes excellent care of our 4 dogs and 5 cats, we have a ton of fun together and he does a lot for me. Its just the eating meat thing, he wants to eat it, I never tell him not too, but maybe he thinks I am trying to get him to stop by talking about it and that is why he gets defensive. Sorry so long!

My boyfriend eats meat, but when he is with me he usually eats veggie food. I never really say anything about him eating meat because I personally don't care if he does. He is pretty lazy and picky and I know that if he ever became veggie he would probably not get all of the nutrients he needs---so it is probably better off this way.

Now, if I was very into animal rights to the point in which where I would talk a lot about it and ask him to convert---we may have some issues. But, he would never be disrespectful.

Mybaby---it doesn't sound as though you have an equal relationship if you can't talk about the things that bother you with him. A relationship is supposed to be fun, but if one person feels slighted and isn't being heard, than that isn't too good. I am not saying you don't have a good relationship because I don't know you, but you may want to revamp the communication aspect of it.
