Hi everyone Benefit used to be my favorite cosmetic line, but Im realizing now that I cant use many of their products. I was wondering about a few of these ingredients. I know lanolin is not vegan, but what about the rest of them? Is cetyl acetate animal-sourced? Thank you!

Quote:

Yeah lanolin definitely isn't vegan, and neither is carmine.

Also, that's an awful lot of unencessary chemicals.

Thanks a lot for those links, meatless - I'm completely lip balm obsessed, and the only vegan lip balm I've tried so far is not that great, and almost impossible to find. Have you (or has anyone) tried any of those brands? I'm tempted to buy the variety pack from Merry Hempsters, but $40 is an awful lot to pay if I don't know what it's like. Thanks!

I have tried all the brands.

You should be able to buy the Merry Hempsters ones locally (I see you are in Calgary)... but if you can't you can buy individual ones (merry hempsters and crazy rumours) from this site:

http://www.cosmosveganshoppe.com/Mer...tegory_Code=FL

Also I'd be very surprised if you couldn't buy the alba ones locally as well. They are in several health food stores where I am (Ottawa).

Personally I love the alba ones the best, followed by the crazy rumours. Alba coconut cream is

Has anyone tried the Blistex Herbal Answer (in a tube)? I am going to look up the ingredients and PRAY (to what, I dont know *shrug*) they are vegan. brb

ingredients for herbal answer. LANOLIN BOOOO.

So. I guess Ill be looking for something else. Im going to send a request for the eco lips free sample. Im excited for that. Being vegan (or a more aware vegetarian) is a completely new world!

Most lip balm is packed with unecessary chemicals and animal ingredients, unfortunately... However, I use Alba and I absolutely love it. I've also heard good things about Crazy Rumors lip balm, but I haven't been able to find it.

Crazy Rumors! I have the French Vanilla and the Apple Spice. They both work and feel great, but taste/scentwise, I love the Apple Spice. I bought mine from differentdaisy.com.

i've got all three of the alba ones and i'm not hugely impressed with them, they smell nice (specially the coconut cream one), but they're nowhere near as moisturising and soft as the eco lips bee-free one that i have (which incidently smells gorgeous too).

also i find the alba ones to be slightly waxy and grainy in texture, and that make my lips feel a little drier and more sore than not using them at all does (they make my bfs lips sore too if i kiss him too much, lol).

the sore lips thing might just be me though, i have sensitive lips like that- can't wear lipstick or many lip 'things' without getting sore, stingy, slightly swollen lips, and my bf is always getting damaged by some rogue beauty product contact, it seems.

anyway- i much prefer the eco lips- its soft, creamy, not gritty, its melty smooth when it touches my lips, (it doesn't feel like you have to rub it on, it kinda just floats there itself with the warmth of your skin) it keeps my lips soft and smooth for ages, lasts forever, and it smells devine....

i didn't realise i was such a lipbalm connosuier, lmao

nope, sorry, 'fraid not i'm not really a tea or coffee kinda girl. the flavours do look like they could be gorgeous though!

now, if they were chocolate based, that'd be a different story, lol... i'd be all over them! i wish i knew of a chocolatey, beeswax-free, junk-free lip salve, that'd be lush.
