The premise of this movie is amusing, given the frequent honey debates here.

Quote:

Bee Movie is the comedic tale of Barry B. Benson (Seinfeld), a graduate bee fresh out of college, who is disillusioned at having only one career choice: honey. On a rare trip outside the hive, Barry's life is saved by Vanessa (Zellweger), a florist in New York City. As their relationship blossoms, he discovers humans are mass consumers of honey and decides to sue the human race for stealing bees' honey, the trade paper reported.

I saw the preview for this on the Over the Hedge DVD I rented! It looks cute. Although, it will be hard to imagine Jerry Seinfeld doing voices for a movie like this. When I saw the preview, the voice didn't match up with the character. Know what I mean?

Who made the rule that computer animated films have to have horrible titles?

"Bee MOVIE"? That's the worst one yet.

I went and saw this movie and think it was great to open people's eyes up to the cruelty of the honey business, if people actually paid attention to that part.

I thought it was amusing in a silly way because of the play on words.

I am amazed no one's seen or commented on this movie! We went opening night (yeah, we were bored, what can I say?) and it was really quite good, funny, nice animation art and an original idea for a change. Plus, HELLO?!?!? the whole vegan-honey debate that always rages on these boards... you'd think EVERYONE would be running to see this thing!

The other internet forums I frequent have far more discussion going on about this movie than we vegans do. Sad.

It's not out here yet.

(freaking Atlantic ocean )

But I don't think the lack of discussion is "sad". It's primarily being marketed as a children's movie, which limits the number of folks who may be drawn to see it.

Jerry actually came up with the name before he even thought of making the movie.

He went for dinner with Steven Spielberg and just mentioned to him that someone should make a movie called Bee Movie.Steven loved the idea and told Jerry that he should make that movie.

Jerry told the story on Oprah.

I think "Bee Movie" is a hysterical play on words, personally.

I didn't realize it was being advertised as a kids movie any more than any other Pixar/Disney cartoon.

Do adults not go to those just as much as kids? There were definitely far more adults in the theater when we went (in fact, I don't remember any kids, but that may be because it was a 9:00 showing?)

I too, like the pun.

And well, I go to kid's movies, and I'm vaguely considered an adult, I suppose, but I'm not sure I'm representative of the population at large.

Just saw the Bee Movie Happy Meal advertised. Ah, the irony.

I watched this movie recently and can't decide how I feel about it. I like the message of cruelty to bees/stealing honey. Yet, I didnt like how they confused the idea that if we dont have honey farms; bees will stop pollinating. I understand that this may not be exactly what they were trying to get across, but at the end it seemed they ignored the negative part of bee farms(they didnt get rid of them) and bees just started approving honey for humans...? I just got confused on the whole coexisting part of it.

Then again I don't know what I am complaining about; it's a childrens movie..lol!

I just saw it last night and I felt exactly the same. It kind of has a veggie message, but then kind of doesn't, and the logic of the movie is so farfetched to begin with that I think any pro-veg message would be completely lost on omni viewers anyway. Ah well...

I feel the exact same way, but I know exactly what you and I are complaining about. Kids who see this, until told otherwise, will believe that it's good and necessary for humans to enslave bees. If we do it for bees, why not shellfish? If shellfish, why not catfish? If catfish, why not all manner of fish? If fish, why not cows? Etc.
