Whoa! Vegan honey!

The website says:

Quote:

Bee Free Honee is a unique sweetener with a slightly tart flavor. It is "apple honey" in that it is made from apples rather than by bees! We use only three all natural ingredients, apple, vegan quality sugar, and lemon juice. There is nothing artificial, no added color and no corn syrup.

Neat!

Anyone tried it yet? Thinking of trying it?

Sounds delicious. Depending on the price on amazon (out of stock at the moment), I may give it a try although I'm pretty happy with agave nectar.

I don't know that I like the idea of linking this with honey. People believe honey has great benefits to health and beauty care. By calling this bee free honey it isn't advocating that it has benefits like honey, just that it's a vegan substitute.
I wish there would be more to debase the fad of honey being so healthy.
There are so many different syrups out there. I never liked the taste of honey much. I'd rather have maple, or agave.

I don't think it tastes like honey either.

Hi! My name is Katie, I actually created Bee Free Honee. I am just a regular person that happened to make a mistake while making jelly. I am really not trying to make any claims about health benefits, I love honey bees...all bees actually. I made a choice to use US apples, which are more expensive to buy than organic from China, but I wanted to feel good about what I was doing, even though the organic label would sell more and be less expensive to buy than locally grown apples. I wanted to feel good about what I was offering. I am not trying to replace honey, I just wanted to create a company and work for myself.

It tastes sweet with a tart twist. You can taste the apple at the end. The name came from an extensive poll of family, friends, and co-workers. There is no hidden agenda, it simply got the most votes. My sister painted the tree on the label. It really is just a product that is from the heart. I hope that you have an opportunity to try it sometime. I just wanted to say, we are simply trying to make an all-natural, US grown and made product that does not destroy in it's path.

All the best, Katie.
