Yeah... I got 'em.
My work requires that I travel sometimes, and I apparently picked up bed bugs near the end of fall. I let my house get extremely cold in the winter, so I never noticed them. Now the weather's warmed up, and I'm being eaten alive.

Anyone here dealt with these little $#!%'s before?

Sorry. That sucks. Makes me itch to think about it.

I don't know about bed bugs, but about 15-years ago, I discovered my apartment and myself were infested with lice or mites or something. They were in my bed clothes, and if I looked carefully in the mirror, I could see them (they were almost microscopic) crawling on my face. I had to get a special shampoo to get them off me, then had to fumigate the whole apartment, which meant being gone for several hours while the bug "bomb" went off. I honestly don't know if bed bugs can be treated the same way, but you'll probably have to do something drastic to get rid of them. Best of luck!

P.S.- I too traveled for a living and probably picked them up out of a motel or somewhere.

I have. It took 4 months of pest control spraying the flat to finally get rid of the bugs. My recommendation is contact pest control immediately, as they're extremely difficult to get rid of.

I've never had them, but I've read about them and it sounds like chocolate mouse is right. Can you buy a new mattress? That's would I would do first. Definintely call an exterminator that specialized in bed bugs.

I don't have any personal experience with them, but I've read about how difficult they are to get rid of' What other posters have said about needing an exterminator who specializes in bed bugs is right. Apparently, it's to be expected that several repeat applications will be necessary. It is an expensive proposition.

I was really hoping that some of you would have some kind of magic non-toxic trick!
I've sprinkled citronella oil under the covers, and that's helping a little.
I don't want to use silica dust because one of my pets may sniff it, and suck it into their lungs.

From what I've read, do it yourself remedies will not work with bed bugs. You're going to have to engage a professional and get you and your animals out of the house.

The longer you don't do this, the worse the problem will get. In the meantime, you're transporting bedbugs everywhere you go, including to your office.

I was terrified of getting them when I was in New York a few weeks ago. I wouldn't stay at any hotel that had any reports of them. And even then, I almost slept in the bathtub.

Just burn your house down. I would. Only way to be sure.

the big advantage for me is my house is only 960 square feet, and i can close parts of it off and heat it to that temp easily.

LMAO! Yeah that would no doubt get rid of the bugs but it was also get rid of the whole "shelter" thing. I hear being homeless kinda sucks.
