Maybe this is just a rant since I doubt anyone can actually help. Alos I know many people here enjoy and want the genital bleeding experience for some bloody weird reason I can never understand when the only thing I've ever seen result from genital bleeding is increased health problems.

My witty parady for this....

"OH MY GODDESS...I havn't had the flu yet this month. I need to have the flu because being healthy all the time would get so boring. Better get to the doc to find out why I havn't came down with the flu yet. Maybe my doc can inject me with the flu. I need to be sick every month because if one isn't sick every month, life isn't worthwhile anymore.

I've had BC pills stop working before and it's happened again.

I'm right back to violent nine day genital bleeding problems. It's so frustrating. I'm taking BC pills to boost my immune system so my body fights off diseases better. I was feeling so hopeful that I could start making plans and doing things with my life when I started on the meds.

Because of the out of control bleeding I experienced starting on my B-day, I decided to take the pills non stop because the bleeding and resulting diseases were causing me to miss a lot of class time. Add on the amount of time I spend in bed due to the metabolism disease and a lot of my life is just passing me by. Despite taking the pills nonstop, I came down with another out of control genital bleeding episode. ( Too bad I can't trade this over to people who love genital bleeding)

My course would habve been finnished already but I already failed for the year because of metabolism and bleeding diseases interfering. I never even took teh test.

I dunno...I'm just staring out of a window wishing these diseases would be under control so I could go on a hike and have a somewhat functional life. I considered having increased metabolism disease the cost of controlling the genital bleeding and now I have both diseases hitting me hard sometimes at the same time, it sucks.

Why on earth would you take the pill to help increase immunity? What you call "genital bleeding" is called menstruation by most people.

You should see a doctor if it's abnormal. And you shouldn't be taking the pill non-stop, unless your doctor has instructed you to do so.

You are FEMALE

You will have periods.

Birth control is called birth control because its to stop birth, not to stop periods!

She thinks periods are a curse from Satan and lowers one's immunity, because all a female can ever do when she has her period is lie there moaning and whining and bleeding.

Have you thought of a sex change, Eclipse? That would solve things.

Uh....what? You are female. You are supposed to have "genital bleeding", aka menstruation, on a regular, monthly basis. It isn't going to give you "diseases" or lower your immunity. Yes, you may feel worn-down, tired, crampy, angry, and have a wicked craving for chocolate, but that's just from the hormone changes going on in your body during your period.

Seriously, birth control pills are designed to stop you from getting pregnant. If you're not pregnant they must be working.

ha, I missed the satan part somewhere. That's classic. Then again, I was taught at church that periods was a curse placed onto women (though by god), because Eve ate the apple from the tree of knowledge.

A hysterectomy would also stop periods.

The pill isn't just for birth control. Some people have abnormally long periods and/or horrible cramping. Birth control pills can help regulate those problems.

Eclipse, What the h__l are you talking about? Now you can call me OLD fashioned or just plain OLD. But I have no freakin' idea what your problem is. How can you possibly think that not menstruating is a good thing, it is just another way our bodies eliminate built up waste. It helps keep your uterus healthy and functioning. What happens when you no longer want to s__t {have a bowell movement} or p__s{urinate}.

Actually, you can take birth control non-stop depending on what kind it is. If you take a pill that is estrogen-based you will need to have your period at least a few times a year because the endometrial lining will still build up. I've been taking my pill for about 10 years straight now and I take about 3 packs in a row and then have a period. So all-in-all I have about 3-4 periods a year, depending.

If you don't want to have a period at all you should switch to a progesterone-based form of bc like the depo shot or an IUD.

ETA: Oh, and just as a warning... many women who do skip their periods using the continuous pill method can still have 'breakthrough bleeding'. Usually it's much lighter than your normal period. So that might be why you still bleed when you skip the placebos. And when you take the pill, you don't truly menstruate as the bleeding is just a reaction from the loss of hormones.

no need to be vitriolic, dls. And marie's right - the pill isn't just for bc. Hormone regulation is also a common use. But, I've never heard of it being used to assist the immune system.

Which is why I told eclipse not to do that without talking to her doctor about doing so.

vitriolic, thanks OregonAmy, my new word of the day. I do understand that bc pills can help some women with hormonal disfunctions, but they do not solve the problem they only mask it. I just do not understand why so many young women these days take the pill just so as not to menstruate.

Well, of course, that is a given. But I didn't want people to think that it wasn't a possible, or safe option. Every doctor I have seen and had received an rx through, has given me no problems about taking the pill continuously. In fact, most of them agree that there's no reason a women, who does not want to have children, should menstruate every month.

I am truely puzzled by all this. Everyone wants to live a more natural life, eat organic foods, save the animals etc. But you still want to chemically control natural bodily functions. Go figure!

Well, there are times when it's not some matter of convenience, but matter of health.

<<raises hand (and I'm not the only one on this board)

I reached a point some years ago where the bleeding was so uncontrollable that I was left with two choices...try bc again (a new kind/brand), or make a surgical choice that would leave me infertile. bcp was a blessing to me at that time.

I guess you in no way allow yourself to benefit from "better living through chemistry?" Hope you never get a serious illness (or even a minor bacterial infection), and live in a warm climate that doesn't require wearing clothes, driving a car, or shelter stronger than what can be made with mud and grass.
