Hi Everybody,

Please take one minute to make the following calls so electrocuting animals for their fur can finally be banned!

Thank you,

Ban Electrocution of Animals Raised for Fur: Contact New York Legislators Today

The New York State Assembly is considering legislation that will ban the electrocution of animals raised at fur factories. These cruel killing methods are inflicted each year on thousands of foxes, mink, chinchillas, and other animals who are raised in intensive confinement for fur coats and fur-trimmed apparel. Anal & genital electrocution are often used to kill fur-bearing animals who are raised on farms because they are inexpensive and do not damage the pelt.

Killing animals by electrocution as practiced by fur factories is not deemed acceptable by the American Veterinary Association or even by the fur industry. According to Fur Commission USA, the only method of euthanasia approved by Fur Commission USA is bottled gas, either pure carbon monoxide or carbon dioxide."

What You Can Do:

1. Contact Assembly Member Joseph Lentol to urge him to PASS bill A. 9264, which would ban the electrocution of animals who are raised for their fur, out of the Codes Committee (of which he is Chair) ASAP.

2. Contact Speaker Sheldon Silver to urge him to use his authority as the leader of the NYS Assembly to make sure that bill A. 9264, which would ban the electrocution of animals who are raised for their fur, PASSES the full Assembly this legislative session.
