I buy it at the grocery store or an Italian specialty store depending on how flush I am...

Ahh... It is expensive, though! I got the cheap-ass good value brand from wal-mart. It sucks, just so you know. Unless you are a cheap ass, like me, avoid that brand.

My understanding is most "balsamic vinegar" isn't TRUE balsamic vinegar. It's vinegar with caramel and things added to it to make it balsamic-esque. True balsamic vinegar is prepared and aged a certain way in wooden barrels and can cost hundreds of dollars a bottle. The really old really expensive stuff is like syrup and is used by the drop.

Has anyone seen a balsamic vinegar WITHOUT sulfites?! That's what I'D like to know. (Not to hijack your thread tho)

You might find your answer in your previous thread about this:

http://www.veggieboards.com/boards/s...ad.php?t=53948

Quote:

So although this may sound dumb, what exactly is balsamic vinegar? I don't get it. A vinegar that comes from Balsa? Totally clueless here, help me out.

Apparently, the Italians find the American obsession with it amusing. Those Americans, they like everything sweet!

I love it, too.
