I'm having problems with sound not working, so I tried to play something in winamp - and got an error message telling me I had a bad sound driver(but it worked this morning). I've done some hunting and researching, but I don't know anything about computers and it's all very overwhelming. I'm kind of lost, and hoping one of you can point me in the right direction or even walk me through this.

the content of the message does not mean much, often times all it means is that there is a problem, but the actual error is different from the one identified in the message.

have you installed anything since the morning? has your computer crashed badly meanwhile? (in this case windows sometimes changes certain things or starts in limited mode without loading all drivers)

Yeah - we had to restart it earlier, you're probably right about Windows using its own discretion...

In any case, I restarted it twice more, and now it's working. Go figure. Thanks, though.
