[from Infoshop News]

Rodney Coronado, a convicted Tucson environmental saboteur facing

charges in two criminal cases, has been cited with new counts alleging

that he violated federal laws protecting birds of prey.

Coronado, the 39-year-old unofficial spokesman for Earth Liberation

Front, was charged by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service this week

with possessing eagle feathers.

According to Deb McCarley, a Phoenix FBI spokeswoman, Coronado is

accused of violating the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act and the

Migratory Bird Treaty Act. McCarley had no details on why Coronado may

have possessed the feathers, or how he obtained them.

...

In February, Coronado was indicted in connection with giving a 2003

speech on how to make a firebomb just hours after members of the group

reportedly ignited a $50 million apartment blaze in San Diego, the

most expensive act of eco-terrorism in U.S. history. Coronado

previously served nearly five years in prison for burning down an

animal-testing lab at Michigan State University in 1992.

On Monday, Coronado faces sentencing in U.S. District Court in Tucson

for another conviction, the sabotage of government efforts to remove

mountain lions from Sabino Canyon.

He's giving environmentalists and animal rights activists a bad name.

LMAO, I can't help but snicker at the idiocy when I hear of the ELF burning up all that unnatural junk to poison the atmosphere. These guys should be comedians instead of criminals. They'd probably drag the corpse of their cause on further that way.

so how do you animal rights activists decide how to split your time between complaining that there aren't enough animal protection laws and complaining that your hero is being charged for violating the ones that exist?

The agencies are probably lieing,in order to defame him, just remember these same agencies support and actively do hunting and fishing.

Also remember that these legal acts are frauds to begin with, remember that canada has a "seal protection act".

I understand blowing up a animal testing lab, but why would a eco-terrorist blow up an apartment? Wouldn't they just build another one?

One of the fundamental guidelines of the extreme activists is that great care must be taken not to inflict harm in carrying out the acts. This has been borne out in practice. On the very rare occasions when harm has occurred, the mainstream AR groups have condemned the acts. In some cases, the authors of the acts have been suspected to be those allied against the AR movement; their motives would not require deep thought to decipher.

Look what I was trying to say in my original point but obviously I didnt make it clear is: what is the point in destroying an apartment? It really doesnt serve any purpose they will just build another one. Now if they destroyed a whole shiit load of lumberyards or construction companys that would be more meaning not some "apartment"

Oh and Rodney Coronado is a part of ELF and the faq you quoted is from ALF.

Both are similiar but ELF is for the Earth and ALF is animals. and I dont think ALF would admit to murdering people even if they were that aggressive.

So get off my ass dooshbag

Why's that? What's better in being passive?

Better to be passive than to blow up an apartment building. What exactly is he trying to accomplish here?

Rod Coronado has committed crimes in the names of both the ALF and the ELF.

Not to mention that both the ELF & ALF, as far as I know, are only supportive of destruction of property, not destruction of life.

But there could be one time when they blow up a building and there is someone's pet inside, or a child, or any other being still inside. Will you still support them then?

I think we can infer something about how likely that is from the fact that AFAIK this hasn't to this day happened.

The question of small animals inhabiting the place is more relevant, however, and I heard the book "Terrorists or freedom fighters" considers the question.
