I think this sums up the situation.<br><br><img alt="" src="http://www.veggieboards.com/newvb/attachment.php?attachmentid=15367&d=1304396381" style="border:0px solid;"><br><a href="http://cdn.veggieboards.com/f/fa/fac35da4_vbattach15367.jpeg"><img alt="LL" src="http://cdn.veggieboards.com/f/fa/525x525px-LL-fac35da4_vbattach15367.jpeg" style="width:525px;height:393px;"></a>

I prefer the one with the cats. So many needless metaphors.

That picture fails in so many ways it's unbelievable. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/wall.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":wall:">

well, it's only meant to be a silly analogy.<br><br>
I don't drink myself, or go out much, so I suppose my vote would be 'stay at home'.

I think it's a rather good analogy, actually <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/smiley.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":)"><br><br>
The cat version is also quite good:<br><a href="http:" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HiHuiDD_oTk</a>

It sums up why FPTP is so dumb...<br><br>
Not sure if I'm going to bother voting. FPTP is ridiculous but I don't know if I can bring myself to vote for AV. I feel pretty angry about it, this is exactly why we need reform in the first place, it never feels worth voting.

I have that problem as well...<br>
I think I'm going to spoil my ballot.. It's Assembly elections as well today and I need to vote in them so I'll think I'll spoil my referendum vote..

Yeah, I am also thinking of spoiling, but then I am lazy today and even though it's only a couple of blocks away, it hardly seems worth it.

I just think if we don't vote this time then we might not get the chance of further reform? I understand what you mean though.

I voted Yes in the end. I also voted for an independent in the Mayoral election, Greens for Leicester Council and the Welsh Assembly and Howling Laud Hope for MP.<br><br>
Is anyone else following the results on the BBC right now?

This is not looking good....<br><br>
So far the "No" vote is at 70% and "Yes" is at 30%. I'm not surprised that the No vote is winning, but why the huge gap?

An overwhelming 42% of the electorate (I think that's the figure mentioned on BBC) bothered to have their say in the referendum.

Well those 68% had the choice to vote and they didn't...<br><br>
Although I do wonder how many of them do want electoral reform but don't want AV....<br><br>
And they haven't taken spoilt ballots into the equation of how many voted....

I blame the totally inadequate media coverage. Apparently no one bothered to ask the Australians how they felt about the system there. The media focused on the political game, how this was affecting the coalition government etc, not so much on how AV and FPTP works, and not on fact-checking some of the ridiculous claims made e.g. about the alleged cost of switching to AV.
