^^^ complete article ^^^

I have recently been barraged by people with posters of protest and letters of allegiance for vegetarianism and "veganity" (rhymes with insanity). The majority of them (wait... I mean all) claim that I am either a murderer or that my lifestyle choice (I eat meat and love it) is harmful to the world. Yet, I have never heard of anyone protesting against their lifestyle choice. So, all who salivate for steak, go pig-wild over pork, crave chicken and fantasize about fish, this, comrades, is for you.

I have a premise: If meat is murder, then green is mean.

I hope this person is not planning on a career in journalism. His writing really sucks.

His article is boring and has no spine.

I've seen anti-vegan articles that are well written and which makes one want to actually sit down with the person and talk. This is not the case here.

I suspect his brain is not very big.

I stopped reading after:

"Has an animal ever told you that it thinks it should have a better living arrangement or that it is painful and demeaning to have no life other than to serve the purpose of a man's (or woman's) culinary pleasure? Unless you hear voices from less than typical places, I'm guessing no."

This person has some problems that go deeper than this issue.

This is so funny...

How different is "Meat is Murder" from "Abortion is Murder" or "Homosexuality is a Sin"
-Of all the agricultural land in the UK, 80% is used to raise animals for food. Twenty times more land is required to feed a meat-eater than to feed a pure vegetarian.

-Raising animals for food consumes more than half of all the water used in the world. It takes 2'500 gallons of water to produce a pound of meat but only 60 gallons to produce a pound of wheat.

-Raising animals for food requireds one third of all fossil fuels in the UK. Producing a single hamburger uses enough fossil fuel to drive a small car 20 miles and enough water for 17 showers.

-For the world to consume a typical meat eating western diet, we would need 300% of the world - thats an extra 2 earths to rear our food!!!

-However if we grew crops to feed the world over, we could the world over 4 times over.

I'm sure his car wasn't in Nature's Plan, either. Or the house he lives in, the computer he uses, the roads he drives on, the stores he goes to, the planes he flies in ...

No one is telling us we are wrong because there is no real evidence that we are.

Changing the subject here, but he might just do it if you wrote to him and suggested it.

After doing that movie, Morgan Spurlock got a tv show, with basically that premise. Instead of eating McD's every meal for 30 days, he'd spend 30 days living some other different lifestyle for each episode of the tv show. For instance, he worked a minimum wage job and lived at that income level for 30 days, just to show and document how hard it is.

I have a lot of respect for him. He may still eat meat, but he does good work, overall. And he did slam the hell out of McDonald's and the fast food industry in that movie, which is always a good thing.

Morgan's girlfriend is a Vegan, and she put him on a Vegan diet for 30 days after the McD thingy. But when it was over he went back to being an omni.

While I'd be happier if he'd kept it up, you've got to give him credit for at least being open minded enough to try it. That's better than morons like the guy who wrote this article.

His wife/girlfriend is a vegan chef! Seriously!

To lose the super-size me weight, I believe he ate 100% vegan and "clean" - no coffee, added sugar, etc.

Back on topic, I HATE how people say veganism is against nature. Right, like the purpose of animals is to be food for humans. How conceited, arrogant, and plain ignorant can a person be? Animals have thoughts, feelings, friends, families..it is sickening to think that people feel that they exist solely for the purpose of being their food. Ugh.

bah. nature.

I like nature for periods of up to a week when camping. Small doses of nature. Then I like to come back to my unnatural house, play about on my unnatural computer, get clean in my unnatural shower, and gorge on unnatural vegan ice cream.

he wrote me back. Basically he said if I had read his whole article I would have understood the point that I guess many others did, that he doesn't agree with people "forcing their beliefs" on him. Amongst many other things, I asked him who was forcing him? My main beef (pun intended) with him is that I felt he was promoting the idea that all vegans are kooky and insane and we hear animal voices etc. I also questioned his focus that people are vegans for animal's souls. Since I believe there are plenty of aethiest vegans who aren't in it primarily for health reasons.

Also, he doesn't believe it's been proven that the animals feel pain or suffer.

sigh
