I'm kinda bummed right now. I just found out that my favorite coffeeshop, Ruth Marie's Coffee and Teas, is closed. I found out about this coffeeshop a little over a year ago when my Spanish teacher took my Spanish class there during finals week because we only needed to have one final discussion, and she's taken us there several times since then. I've taken my friends there, bought to-go fruit drinks, went there a couple of times with the ex bf... All in all, it was a place I could have gone to much too frequently for my wallet's sake.

The staff were some awesome customer-service people, and I made sure to mention them when I wrote a review of the coffeeshop (it also has a light lunch menu). I wrote the review of them last December, but it didn't get printed in the last issue of the student newspaper for the semester because there was so much news that the editor decided to wait until this semester to print it.

Over Christmas Break, I went to Ruth Marie's at least twice, and it was the same as it always has been; relaxing and cheery.

The review was printed in last week's edition of the student newspaper. I got a call tonight from the assistant editor, saying that someone from the nursing dept. at school called her to say that Ruth Marie's has been closed since last school year. I knew that lady couldn't have been right, but I decided to check it out, anyway. I called the Ruth Marie's number and found out that it was disconnected.

Then I tried the Ruth Marie's website <www.ruthmaries.com> and I was completely shocked! (WARNING: SITE CONTAINS EXCREMENT PICTURES!!!) There had been a complete menu and other general info about the shop, but all that was gone. I'm guessing that there was some real discord going on at that place, and some employee felt the need to bash the shop with a really disgusting joke.

Now I'm not sure if a retraction of the review is in order... should the student newspaper make some kind of acknowledgment of this?
