Think about it for a second. We have all this fake meat that is made to taste like real meat. I am a huge fake meat eater, but I have heard some people don't eat fake meat because it is supposed to resemble a real animal. I am not going to stop eating fake meat, but what does everyone else think? Are we jealous?

The only thing I'm jealous of is the fact that omnis have more choices when dining out. If veg*ns had as many choices in restaurants, I don't think there would be any reason to be jealous of omnis. Most people are not forced into veg*nism. It's usually a choice, and a veg*n can generally go back to eating meat anytime they want.

Uh, no. Jealousy is stupid and pointless.

No. However, meat-eaters are jealous of sexy vegan armpits.

I am answering this with 110% honesty. I am in no way jealous of carnivores. In all honesty I pity them. They are not just doing a disservice to the planet but to themselves and their families. When you look at the sicknesses and diseases that omnivores are plagued with and to know that if they chose veg*nism they would eliminate majority of their illnesses and need for medications I PITY THEM. I have not been sick for as long as I can remember. I don't take any form of meds. I don't get colds or flu. Absolutely nothing happens to me. I just live a wonderful healthy life. My friends all envy me. Seriously. And when I give them the antidote for health they are either too lazy, stubborn or arrogant to follow through with it. So I am not jealous in any way or form. I feel sorry for them.

I might be a little jealous of the convenience?

Yep, so jealous of the fact they can eat something that I... oh wait yeah I can.

There's nothing wrong with the fact that some people liked the taste of meat and still want similar flavours, but they're not "jealous", you can't be jealous of someone having something you can have if you wanted to.

Choosing not to eat fake meat because it has connotations with real meat is someones personal choice, but personally I think it doesn't make any sense. How a food tastes or looks has nothing to do with the ethics behind where it comes from.

No....

I used to eat fake meat a lot as well, just because patties are convenient shapes, and the nuggets don't really taste like chicken, but they're tasty. It's the flavor of tasty we're after, not the flavor of animal. If you take out all the salt and other **** people put on animals to make them tasty, they just taste like dead animal.

If anything, they should be jealous of us. Plant foods are naturally tasty with out salting the **** out of them.

I think fake meats are really just there for the transition. People with a Western diet are used to protein-heavy meat centerpieces to a meal, so it's hard to cut out that part of the diet entirely.
In my case, even after 8 years, it's way easier to throw something frozen in the microwave than to make a fresh salad. I have absolutely no clue if what I'm eating has the taste of texture of meat or not - whatever meat is like, I've completely forgotten. But it's something I'm used to eating. When I marry some gorgeous women who loves to cook (keeping my fingers crossed) then I'm sure the substitutes would be out of my diet completely.

As has been said above, I'm jealous of the amount of freedom that meat-eaters and lacto-ovos have with regards to eating at restaurants etc. I eat substitutes because they taste good, not because I want meat and can't have it.

I completely agree with this. I was more talking about the fake meat aspect of it though. But yeah it pisses me off to no end. Every time someone in my family eats meat (which is a lot) I give them a guilt trip

Not only does that sound kind of sexist, it's really lazy too.

I like fake meat. It tastes nice even if it mimics the taste perfectly or not. It's not jealousy. We're not against the taste, but how you get that taste - killing the animal.

The only thing I'm jealous of is the convenience in restaurants and all the lovely sound vegetarian mock meats that the companies stuff egg and milk in when they don't have too.

No. I'm not jealous of people who consume bugs, feces, and urine either.

No, that would be absurd. Jealousy is what you feel when someone else has something you can't have. But if I want meat, I can have it. I could go back to eating meat any time, if I wanted to. I just choose not to.

I do feel jealous, however, that meat-eaters can walk into any restaurant and order absolutely anything on the menu, with the only thing going into the calculation being what they feel like eating at that moment. That's something I haven't had for years, even back when I was pescatarian or lacto-ovo vegetarian.

Explain to me why it's sexist that I would like my future spouse, who would be of my preferred gender, to have a useful skill that I lack the knack for and interest in?
Would it still be sexist if I were a woman, and I said I hoped to have a handsome husband to do the cooking?
