The thread title and first post could be more descriptive.

They're probably afraid she's this guy.

If a terrorist organization doesn't have any qualms about blowing up a plane full of passengers, why would they not use an old lady to get past airport security?

What if they let her through and she was carrying something? then a big chunk of America would be saying 'you idiots! Why did you fall for the helpless old lady trick!'

So that it can be ignored a little easier, yeah?

It's actually a rule on this forum to make titles descriptive. If it's not descriptive enough, then a moderator will come along and edit it. Just a heads up.

That's what I was thinking. I feel bad for the lady, and I don't agree with the procedure at all, but if the rule is in place then why would some people be exempt from it?

Hey, for all they knew, she could have been all like, "I've had a good run; either I finish falling apart in the next year or two, or I get X number of virgins in the afterlife! I like virgins."

Is it just me, or is the whole TSA pat down procedure just for show, anyway? If the terrorists wanted to blow up hundreds of people, all they'd have to do is blow up the constantly bottlenecked lines of people waiting to go through security. There's no xray machine to get into the airport, just to get past the security checkpoint.

Also, I've never heard of any sort of security at train stations. It's only a matter of time before the terrorists go after an Amtrak train.

The whole airport security stuff just seems like an overkill response to 9/11, while gaping holes in actual security are waiting to be exploited.

And no, I'm not just bitter that I was "randomly" selected for the pat down treatment on my last plane trip. (yes, really)

i don't see anything wrong with them treating this women the same as everyone else while following tsa rules. what's the point of security if some people can bypass it. do people not think there's old women in the world who would support blowing up or hijacking a plane, or little children who obey when their parents tell them not to mention the bit of explosives in their underwear?

i'm outraged at current tsa procedures and security rules but i'm not outraged that they apply them to everyone.

the Amtrak thing is a no go. The terrorist agreement states that they're not allowed to use Amtraks. It's a weird glitch that occurred and has never been fixed. oh well.

And here I thought that the terrorists avoided Amtrak, because the trains crash so much on their own.

Not really, it's more of a legal thing. Plus, they want to avoid people thinking they're train wrecks.

Yes. Wasn't an eight year old girl just used as a suicide bomber?

Quote:

Naw ... the fact is that people who use trains in the U.S. are totally expendable. They're the Walmart shoppers of the transportation world.

So i guess now they should take off all babies diapers, and oh women who have padded bras on, gotta take those off and let them take a look. If i was a suicide bomber and only getting a pat down, i wouldn't be hiding the thing outside of my body. Now i'm fine with the whole scanner thing, and it's the only thing i will go through, i'm not about to go through a scanner and pat down, really the scanner is a lot more efficient. Did they have an option of a scanner? For ones that don't are the pat downs soon going to be cavity searches? I mean it's only being thorough right?
