Of course it's unhealthy to smoke, but it's they're decision to smoke. I try to seriously help my one friends who smokes to quit altogether, but its not working yet. But I have hope. So I don't see smokers as disgusting, they just have an unhealthy problem that they can fix if they take action and stick with their plan.

I find it gross.
I find it even grosser that so many people in my school smoke, and reek of cigars.

It will be almost a year since I quit. Honestly I still miss it and I've been craving a cigarette like crazy the past few days. I am not at the point where I find smoking gross and I don't find smokers gross since I've been there.

It's good you want to help your friend be healthy but does he/she want to quit? I smoked for years and had no interest in quitting at all despite all the future potential health risks. I only quit because I had to.

I don't think smokers are disgusting, but I do find smoking disgusting. My sister smokes and I wish she would quit. She's managed it before, but it's extremely difficult and the person has to be really committed to doing it. The only thing you can really do is encourage them when/if they do try to quit because nagging them won't accomplish anything, and they probably will see it as nagging.

I don't have anything against smokers. There are plenty of things people do with negative health consequences, and we all have to make our own choices. I won't criticize them for their choices. I would not, however, opt to live in the same house as a smoker, or even someone who burns incense for that matter. Smoke is smoke and I'd rather not breathe it. I like my fresh air.

I don't find it disgusting. I used to smoke. I agree with Nomad that there are lots of irrational things that people do for a myriad of seemingly dumb reasons. The smell doesn't bother me either.

Having never smoked a cigarette or cigar or any hallucinogenics, i can't understand the buzz that people get from smoking. Unlike dormouse, the stench of cigarette smoke makes me feel sick. Also, the way some smokers just discard their cigarette ends where they please is irritating.

I can't help it, instinctively I find it extremely disgusting and sickening, worse even than the smell of animal carcasses.

I grew up in a house full of smokers, so I'm like an x-smoker in that I'm extra sensitive to the smell. I don't even like being around smokers, when they aren't smoking, because their clothes stink. I miss hanging out with certain smokers, but can't handle the gross factor.

some of us smoke some dont, do you have disgusting habbits like biting your nails ,picking your face or nose, don't wash your hands after using the loo , well if you do any of the above or any other disgusting things and had to leave something behind like ash, sigaret bud what would you leave behind.......bits of nails, snot etc ,smoking is not good ,terrible habbit to kick i agree but just think before you are so quick to judge or try and solve your friend's problems like making them give up smoking deal with your own problems when the time is right they will stop in the mean time think about what you can do to help yourself.

I'm mostly a non-smoker, at least with tobacco, but I will smoke a cigar or even cigarettes from time to time. I'm far from addicted, but I certainly don't find it disgusting. Fresh smoke always smells fine to me. Morning-after clothes smoke smell does bother me, though.

Exactly the same for me too. I used to smoke occasionally so I can't really judge smokers. One of my friends is trying to give up at the moment actually and she has smoked for about 26 years.

cannot agree with you more smokers just dropping their buds everywhere i am a smoker and discard of all my buds at home, when i go for a walk in nature and feel the urge to smoke i never leave my buds behind , i will stop when i want to at the moment i stink and smoke and enjoy it but i do not smoke around people who are offended or do not like it i harm myself only and as for the buds i do somke roll your own a lot and then have no siggarette buds. not saying smoking is good just try to be concious of others while i do and nature.

I do find smokers a bit disgusting, only if I have to watch them smoke or smell the smoke off them though... I am always a bit disappointed when I find out someone I like smokes as well. Just can't see the point of it and I generally think its reckless to so deliberately endanger your health as your loved ones will be the ones to suffer if you die early because of it (feel the same about any pointless risk). Have a lot of admiration for quitters though.

Worst thing about it is that most cigarettes are tested on animals.

I wouldn't say SMOKERS are disgusting to me, although I do find smoking gross. It's not a deal breaker in a friendship or relationship, I just prefer to not have the smell come into contact with my nostrils.

Quote:

I remember hearing on the radio that cigarettes can contain pig hemoglobin. I went and looked it up online, and sure enough... apparently it helps filter some of the toxins in cigarettes before the smoker inhales them into their lungs.

Sick, on so many levels.

What I do find disgusting is when people smoke inside their house or car. Every time I visit my boyfriend's parent's house for a holiday I get a VERY stuffed up nose, itchy eyes, and my clothes and hair end up stinking for days - because both his parents smoke indoors. Bleugh.

I don't mind it outdoors, but every time I visit my parents they chain smoke in the car and it makes me feel ill. I'll be bringing my own smoke free car next time. So, as long as people don't subject me to it, I don't really mind.

Not disgusting, no. I'm not all that offended by it, but I rarely have to put up with it except walking down the street.
