Our crabapple tree is absolutely out of control this year. We have yet to pick even half the apples, and we already have far more applesauce than we can use to eat or bake with, plus enough for all the apple butter we could ever want. What on earth to do with what's left? Freezing more applesauce isn't an option... we've already frozen as much as we can fit in the room we have, haha. Does anyone have recipes that involve a large amount of crabapples or applesauce, or suggestions on what to do with them?<br><br><br><br>

You could put some in pie (you use a lot of sugar/sweetener) or maybe in crabbapple jam/jelly. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/lick.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":lick:">

Does crabapple sauce taste good? I've only ever used crabapples in crabapple jelly (which I love).

^ It tastes great <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/grin.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=""> It's a bit tart on its own, so we sometimes add sweetener and/or cinnamon, but yum! We use it a lot in baking, where it fits in very well.

You could dry it and make "fruit leather" I think?<br><br><br><br>
I don't have instructions (or really any idea how to do it) but you could probably Google for ideas... I just remember my Mom used to make fruit leathers from fruit purees.

Oh well nevermind, I was going to suggest using it as an egg replacer or moisture replacement in baking recipes but looks like you've got that covered.<br><br><br><br>
