I have a friend who now has AOL. She would like to switch to another ISP--perhaps pay Juno/NetZero--but has tons of "Favorites" in her AOL browser that she is afraid of not being able to use.

Anyone know of a program--preferably free or low-cost--to convert these AOL "Favorites" to Internet Explorer format?

I did find one program for this purpose, but it costs $16. Anyone know if there is anything else out there that might be cheaper?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

PS: Does anyone even know the name of the file where AOL stores its favorites?

Favtool is free, and it works with Netscape and IE, but I don't *think* it converts aol - http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/fil...id,6052,00.asp

You can create an aol bookmarks folder with a unique name (Select the Favorites menu and select Favorite Places. Click New and choose New Folder, then type in the name) and search the PC for that folder. It may be in a format that will allow you to convert with favtool.

Then there's also the Yahoo bookmarks service and mybookmarks.com - both free.

Thanks, Max!

I guess I should have added that she has AOL v. 8

I found a utility that converts AOL v. 5 and under, and has some info on the file names used, etc.
