Has anyone seen the British sitcom Coupling?

Its on BBC America and BBC Canada if my research is right. Some people would describe it as Friends with sex. Which is true in the sense that it avoids skirting around the issue and gets down to the nitty gritty and says that part of the reason the six friends hang out is that they do or have fancied each other. Great humour, possibly my favourite sitcom ever.

Thought about this as the third series is starting tonight in the UK.

BBC UK

BBC America

Doh! Forgot to add the other reason I posted this....

NBC (I think) have just bought the rights to make a US version of this. I think this will be a total failure because they will have to tone it down to please the advertisers, and I can't think of one US remake of an edgy Britcom that didn't fall in its face. Men Behaving Badly is a good example, redefined and exposed UK lad culture for the beer swilling monsters they are, and did it it in a way that managed to make enough of a mockery of it that people became embarrassed to live that lifestyle. US version - people were embarrased to watch.

Coupling is one of the few shows that makes me laugh out loud on a regular basis. It's great!

(I agree that the American version will probably be a dud. British shows always seem to lose their edge when they're "Americanized". It's not just the comedies. There was a British series (my mind has blanked on the name) about a gambling addicted psychologist who assisted the police. It starred Robbie Coltrane, and was very dark and intense and unforgettable. The American version, which was short lived, was watered down and mediocre, even though they copied the plots.)

I LOVE Coupling! Just got hooked on it last month, when I watched the entire first season on DVD... Now I can't get enough!

I have no intention of watching the Americanized version.

OMG I love this show. Yes, I would agree that the US version will likely suck. They're adapting the SAME episodes for US TV - that's gonna BITE!!! I think the UK version is brilliantly written and acted. Personally, I describe it as the center of the triangle formed by Seinfeld, Sex And The City, and Friends. Plus Jane is HAWT

I get to see it here in the states on PBS, but they keep showing the same 5 or 6 episodes over and over. My favorite is the one where the guy ends up stripping naked in front of all his coworkers on his birthday (Oh Jefferey!).

I wish I could see more of them.

Yes, the U.S. version will suck, but I've noticed from the commercials that they're using some of the same jokes from the British series.

They just started showing the third season of the British version on my local international channel. Squee!!! Such a brilliant show. I haven't watched the US version yet, nor do I plan to, but some TV execs are being really lame. Going to continue this in the *other* Coupling thread...
