Any wheat gluten recipes?

I liked this recipe better than the usually recommended "boiling" method. It's worth the time because it also freezes well. I cut the finished seitan in bite-size-pieces/strips before freezing (in small bags, 1-2 servings), let it thaw overnight, then fry it. The spices/flavors can be changed to one's personal taste of course.
Since you're vegan now (Yay!!), I'd recomend you pick up Veganomicon (just don't order it through amazon). It has a chickpea cutlet that has VWG in it and it's been getting rave reviews! The rest of the cookbook is awesome too

+1

No idea why they didn't come to mind upon your question, but chickpea cutlets are really so yummy
- and easy.

Maybe the best way to use wheat gluten after all.

Thanks!

Quinoa, I just did a VB search to find the link you posted in another thread before I saw you posted it, lol. I want to try that!

I found these, too.
Thanks!

I made my fist seitan roast out of wheat gluten! Here's a pic of it.

I tried to follow this recipe. It tastes pretty good.

I found an AWESOME vegan ribz recipe on You Tube! I just made these and they are freakin' GREAT!
oooh those ribz have been recommended before and i had bookmarked it, intending on making it, but i still am so unsure about seitan making! but thanks for the video link, it makes it less daunting to see it actually done.
I definitely recommend them! I let my dad's omni girlfriend try them and she couldn't believe how good they tasted. The recipe is so quick and simple, too. It's very clever, because if you cut them right they actually do look like ribs.

Don't let the thought of using wheat gluten turn you off (unless you're allergic). They taste even better then Gardenburger riblets.
Another vote for Seitan O' Greatness

BBQ ribz with variations: (replace stars) yeahthatvegans***.blogspot.com/2007/04/ribbed-for-your-pleasure.html

I just spread enough peanut butter to get a thin coat on each side before poking it in, maybe 1 to 1.5 TBSP total. And i replace 2 to 3 TBSP of nutritional yeast with gluten, other wise i would be able to taste it.

I agree about these ribs! I have made them several times, and plan on making them for friends who want to go vegan. I used hoisin sauce for my BBQ sauce and it was SO YUMMY!

Btw.. I also made Julie's "Spicy Italian Sausage" on everydaydish.tv too. OMG so YUMMY! I made some tonight, then sliced them and cooked them in my wok until crisp. I will have that tomorrow night for dinner with pasta and sauce. Mmmmmmmmmmmm! So easy too!

I'll have to try those, too!
I LOVE the seitan o' greatness. My kids love it too. My husband doesn't like it at all. Me and the kids like to slice it thin and use it for sandwiches. I'll probably make it more often now that my husband gets free lunch at work. The chickpea cutlets and beanballs from veganomicon are super-popular at my house. I've also made the riblets on fatfreevegan.com. They were hugely successful.
Or save your pennies and find it online. I think most of the rave reviews are people just being over excited...they were ok though and worth trying.

I made a seitan tutorial in my blog, since I seem to field so many questions about it.
