I am auditioning next year- I'd appreciate advice.

Well I have never worked one but the people who do are always just kinda fun people, lots of what they do is spontanious though there are written shows.

I love the Ren fair! October is comming up soon yay!

the PA renn faire runs all weekends through the summer. I hope i get in.

Oh thats neat the big Texas one runs 3 weeks out of the year but we do have a few smaller ones

Depends! I have a couple outfits, I have a commoner outfit and I have a lady outfit which one I wear depends on which grounds I am going to.

If the grounds are real nice and free from burrs and such I'll wear teh lady one, now if its a bit patchier I'll put on the commoner ( because it can be washed normaly and the Lady outfit is a dry clean only sorta deal)

and everyone wanted our picture!!!(well, his picture. the rest of us were just accessories.)

My kids ran around one year climbing those ladders, the guys would call to them thinking easy targets but my girls can shimmy right up those suckers.

I think they won about 30$ each.

I like that the Renn faire has simple non mechanical rides and games. I think it's good for the kids to get away from the over the top games and rides and have fun anyway.

I agree compleatly, plus its just such a fun no stress kind of thing, you go to an ammusment park and its costly and stressfull but not a Ren fair.

I go whenever I get the chance, besides what other time can I run around and sprinle glitter on people and them be HAPPY about it

I can't really chat right now (must go to bed...i have a huge presentation tomorrow) but I owned a few shops at a couple of ren fairs, some bigger than others. The second to last was at the king richards fair here in ma. I loved it. I had all kinds of clothes from wench to lady to "period shop owner" lol. I miss it.

Renn faires are the best. I try to go to one at least once a year, and if kids are with you, it's a nice way to introduce a bit of history and culture.

The Mt. Hope, PA faire will always be my favorite. It's where my hubby-to-be proposed. He persuaded me to get up on of the stages with him, and he went on his knees and popped the question there (swoons).

Sorry to be a bit sappy, but I just had to share that wonderful moment!

that's awesome!^^^^^ the lancaster renn faire we were at- someone got married on the pirate ship.

i'm working with a dialect coach now- and i hope to have professional pics done soon.

This was a great thread for me to read since I've been thinking about bringing my kids to the Renn Faire that's in town here and I've run into comments from friends that it might be "weird" or not worth going to, but then other people really liked it. I think I will take them because it sounds like a lot of fun and you've made a *very* good point that kids would be able to learn something, have fun and be entertained *without* having to have big (expensive) amusement rides and whatnot- I'll let you know how they enjoy it!

Yeah I think I'd have fun at the dentist if that guy were there!

I want to go to the Ren fair this year(never been) but probably won't. I don't have anyone to go with..lol..hubby is not interested.
