The ADDY awards, sponsored by the American Advertising Federation (AAF), honor excellence in advertising and cultivate the highest creative standards in the industry. The competition begins at the local level with the 210 AAF member clubs nationwide from which local winners proceed to 14 regional competitions, and those winners proceed to the national finals.
The PSA, entitled "Fur Is Dead," was post-produced for the creative team of Chris Carl and Dan Neri, with People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) as the client. The 30-second spot, in unadorned documentary style, depicts a woman who is clubbed to death for her fur coat. The print message "What if you were killed for your coat?" appears without voiceover. The PETA logo and the words "Fur is Dead" close the spot.
