Hi, I'm another export from VW. . . my basic intro deal:

- Been veg for the better part of 6 years, transitioning into veganism and healthy, compassionate lifestyle

- From southern California. Student @ CSUF, TA @ Mt. SAC. There's not much else left for free time after academics, but. . .

- Also into computers, reading, cooking, yoga, music, health, etc.

- Somewhat shy, hoping I'll settle into things okay here =)

Aw... I hope so. This is all kind of um... different... I can't imagine how you all must feel. If there's anything I can do to make it easier just let me know!

hi everyone, old and new =)

I got rid of the old avatar 'cos it woulda looked funny resized. . . too tall and narrow, and a copyright infringement too (oops).

I actually like reading all sorts of stuff. Lately I have been on a Doug Adams/Neil Gaiman/Terry Pratchett kick since I get awfully bogged down with the more academic stuff I *have* to read for class. . .although the yoga books I'm reading for this term's yoga class have been pretty interesting, too. Since I'm a linguistics major, I like reading stuff about language, cognition, mind, etc. -- Stephen Pinker is a favorite, because he conveys good info and is actually readable. I guess I read some more political stuff as well, Chomsky and the like, in an effort to stay informed. Hm. . .I like Tolkien as well (though not as much as my BF -- he has prolly read the trilogy between 15-20 times now), into some poetry (Ginsberg, Sylvia Plath, ee cummings, T.S. Eliot), nonfiction stuff (best recent read: Fast Food Nation). . . basically whatever I can get my hands on. Usually people recommend stuff, or I stumble upon something cool at the library, and I "read in tangents" from there. (Wow. . . I have got to come up with simpler answers to questions, eh?)

Oh yeah, we had a "Books" board at VW where people would make suggestions and so forth. Once I have a fair amount of time to devote to figuring these new boards out, I'm sure I'll get some cool suggestions here as well =)

. . .and I think it'll work out just fine here. I, um, tend to panic easily though. (another oops)
