Animal Rights poem book

I started a thread about this in the teen forum (mods, please do not murge threads or delete one) but I figured since there are more writers then just teens on veggie boards I will post it here too! 
I was thinking I wanted to book together a book of animal rights poems and try to get it published. I have a few I wrote, but that wouldn't be enough for a whole book. Does anyone have any poems they wrote on animal rights they are willing to let be seen by the public? You will be given all credit for your work, your name (and location if you wish) will be placed at the bottom of the poem. If you do not wish to say your name on a public, you may PM me it, or suggest another way I could credit your work to you. Thank you so much!

Great idea! I love to write poetry and it is usually about something I am passionate about. I don't have any yet, but I might write one.

Actually I wrote this about a year ago: <div style="text-align:center;">At the Zoo 
I wonder how it feels to have a thousand eyes 
Peering at you through thick black bars-- 
Confined, restricted and fed on a schedule 
Rather than sleeping in a field beneath the stars? 
I wonder how it feels to live in a pen 
Yearning for a larger space to roam? 
Do you see us as we look into your cage 
In the cramped confines of your home? 
Or are you looking at us with your knowing eyes 
Wondering why we do the things we do? 
Trapped in our boring jobs and professions 
With only a few hours to visit you. 
Which of us is truly free to do what we really want to do? 
Perhaps we are all just animals 
Looking at each other 
At the zoo.

Here's another: The Calves 
Their small eyes sparkle with mischief 
They come to you, curious, hungry 
You pat them, feed them, love them 
They grow to know you, to trust you 
They come when you call, after all 
you’ve only ever been kind to them 
Then comes the day, you’ve set them up 
The truck comes, you load them on 
They look to you, their family, and cry 
How do you do it? You take your cheque 
You leave them to their fate 
I tell myself they wouldn’t have lived a week, if not for me.

You had it tough Claudia 
For all those years 
You gave your milk 
You lost your calves 
But somebody loved you Claudia 
He said you shouldn’t die 
Just because you were out of milk 
He gave you value in yourself 
So he took you in Claudia 
He saved you from the death 
That all cows must go through 
From a death you didn’t know was coming 
And you had a calf Claudia 
For all the babies you lost 
You got to keep this one 
You fed her for a whole year 
But here’s the bad news Claudia 
Your girl does not have a saviour 
No one loves her as you’re loved 
Except you, you love her more than anything 
She has to go Claudia 
There are too many freeloaders 
She costs too much to keep 
Her death is the price of your redemption

thanks vegnik, its great! heres one I wrote 
The knife dripped of the cold blood of a friend she never did love. As she stared at his body, the only remains of a soul that used to walk this world with out a fear, she realized what she had done; she had honestly stopped a beating heart. That life was kept here by her, fed by her, bathed by her. That life looked up to her for warmth and comfort in his first nights on this earth. That life was very young, still dependant on others to show him about the world around him. That life put all the trust he had into her. She was all that life knew, she gave him everything he needed, or so it seemed. Everything until now… That life is over. He is now nothing but a pile of flesh. How can one life become so dependant on another? Was he dependant to her, to keep him alive, or was she dependant on him for company during the day? Was she dependant on that life for a bit power and importance in this world? When he started to grow, did the power she once held completely over him slip away until she did the ultimate thing to control him, by killing him? The real question here is, why does this sound so cruel to you when you think this is a mother killing a child, but when I tell you this is about a farmer, on a small ranch, that had taken a baby calf away from it’s mother the day it was born, raised it, became attached to it, but then still brutally killed it for veal, you will look away, and any compassion towards that life you had, will die with it?

I also can write poetry. 
The Cows

The cows are nice 
and they want, to live 
so don't eat the cows.

Abandoned 
They wait in concrete cells 
With a little food dish 
And a blanket for warmth 
Some are afraid 
They cower in the corner 
Shrink away from the noise 
Some are needy 
Their eyes beg you, anyone 
For freedom, they cry 
Desperately they plead 
they rub along the wire 
They reach out with their paws 
Their time is limited 
It's a popularity contest 
Of the most serious kind 
The man waits with full needle 
To end the suffering 
Of the unwanted

I want to donate to the jane goodall institute, humane societys, the world wildlife fund...pretty much everyone I donate money to now will get even more money. A title for the book hasnt been thought of yet.
