Okay, my thread title it a bit cryptic, I know. My question, though- does anyone know if Amys brand pot pies do all right if a bit defrosted and then refrozen? I'm trying to get ready for a trip to the beach, and just realized that a cooler is not exactly a freezer, so I need to know if I can still take them.

I'm sure they can! Its not like when you heat them up at home they are always directly out of the freezer. I love Amy's shephard's pie. Its soooo delicious!

I'm not sure from a food safety perspective, but in my opinion the texture of the pastry will suffer. If you're going to freeze pastry, it's always best to bake it from frozen so the pastry stays flaky.

i am a frozen food junkie, by necessity, and have had them thaw out on me... they are still okay (taste-wise anyway) except maybe a little dry. I sometimes would add a pat of marg on top to help add some moisture to the crust.
