I like almond milk but every brand i check it has lot of preservatives added to it like calcium carbonate, potassium citrate, gellan gum etc. I checked various brans in walmart like great value, silk etc. All have these ingredients. Does anyone know of any brand without preservatives.

This is Silk unsweetened almond milk-
INGREDIENTS: Almondmilk (Filtered Water, Almonds), Contains 2% or less of: Vitamin and Mineral Blend (Calcium Carbonate, Vitamin E Acetate, Vitamin A Palmitate, Vitamin D2), Sea Salt, Natural Flavor, Sunflower Lecithin, Locust Bean Gum, Gellan Gum.
It's vegan.
Why do have problems with those ingrediants? They have stopped using carageenan.

It's very easy to make your own with a blender. I don't remember the proportions I used, but soak overnight, blend and strain.

Hi srkmish,

Calcium carbonate and potassium citrate are not actually preservatives. Rather, they are mineral supplements added to the almond milk. The calcium carbonate supplies calcium, and the potassium citrate supplies potassium.

Gellan gum is not a preservative, either. Rather, it is a thickening ingredient, used to give the almond milk a consistency that is like that of dairy milk: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gellan_gum#Food_science
