I found out about this through someone else and I think it's very cool. It's a site dedicated to videos about social issues. Definitely worth a check out. They have an animal rights section which I plan to add to <3

Earthlings

Peaceable Kingdom

Vegucated

A Place For Pedophiles-- Louis Theroux (Actually very interesting. Most people fill with rage the moment you mention that word, but after watching this, many in the comments I saw started sympathizing with these people)

America's Medicated Children -- Loius Theroux

Miss Representation

Those are just a few. I know there are more I have seen.I watch many documentaries so sometimes I forget about long ago seen ones. Also, there are some others in the Holiday Veg Gift Guide.

Great post! I can't believe I've never came across this. I'm glad to see they have a section dedicated to animal rights.

Some of my favorite documentaries:

Earthlings

All by John Pilger

All by Al Jazeera

Palestine is still the Issue: Please watch this! It is old and takes place before the "disengagement" but most of it is still relevant.

Occupation 101: About the same issue but a little more updated. Watch!

Massacre: The Story of East Timor

Hey, let's all post the names of social justice documentaries that we like/recommend.

Great resource 4everaspirit...!

Honestly, I don't tend to watch many animal or food docs, but I do like documentaries. I lean toward green ones, but like others too. Some docs I like include...

Happy

Flow

Dirt - AMAZING

No Impact Man - a bit slow, and too extreme for some, but helps you consider cutting back on stupid stuff you don't need.

Race to Nowhere

Babies - looks like it wouldn't be good, but was REALLY good. Even my kids all loved it.

Bully - this one is worth seeing, though I didn't agree with the whole movie (parents in the film left too much undone I felt).

This movie is absolutely adorable. Except for the animal killing. But otherwise, it's pretty good.

Science Under Attack

Nobel Prize winner Sir Paul Nurse examines why science appears to be under attack, and why public trust in key scientific theories has been eroded - from the theory that man-made climate change is warming our planet, to the safety of GM food, or that HIV causes AIDS.

He interviews scientists and campaigners from both sides of the climate change debate, debunks the ClimateGate fiasco and travels to New York to meet Tony, who has HIV but doesn't believe that that the virus is responsible for AIDS.

This is a passionate defence of the importance of scientific evidence and the power of experiment, and a look at what scientists themselves need to do to earn trust in controversial areas of science in the 21st century.

Really? How come? Because so many people were unhappy? If so, I agree. It's sucky to know how many people are sad.

BUT I found the research on what makes people happy really interesting. I know too many people obsessed with just having more stuff and money and such and they're not very happy. I liked that this film noted this too.

Sounds like my kinda thing!! Must watch now. I'm ever amazed that just when I think I know all the good and important documentaries, there are others that have fallen through the cracks unfortunatley but need to be seen.

Islamophobia - a fear or hatred of Islam.

Lets see a religion that demands that animals be slaughtered without stunning because uts what 'allah wants' how could any AR activist be pro islam. Let alone their views on Gay people, women people that dare to convert away from islam or People who are atheists like me.

Islam states that I should be put to death. Whats not to fear? Why shouldn't I hate a religion that demands I am put to death

Of course all the abrahamic religions are repulsive.......gentle Jesus meek and mild sends to hell the unbaptised Child.

The only religions that approach ethical behavior are Jains, Strict Hinduas, strict Buddhists and some Wiccans.

Many people mandate their own ethics and behaviors in spite of / or because of their religion. I've known nice, decent people who are part of a specific religion and also known jerk people who are part of the same religion.

That said, 4everaspirit started this thread as a helpful resource, let's not steal it away from her. If we want to debate religion someone should start a new thread elsewhere please.

Are you referring to Ajswara? They didn't do anything wrong. This was about social issues, so yes they are quite welcome to put non animal rights documentaries they have seen down. I have another thread devoted to animal rights documentaries that I put on my blog.

Wow, I just found out they store passwords in plaintext. Bad website, bad! If anyone who joined is used the same password on other sites, change it.
