Hey guys ^_^ I know there are many sites that host documentaries, and even some that focus solely on social justice, but I decided I'd make a blog for people who are looking for animal rights oriented documentaries solely. It's still a work in progress, but I already have many trailers for movies down. If you can think of others, please let me know. Also, if you have any recommendations for making it look better, I'd love to hear it!

P.s If I don't add them today, I will add them probably after Tuesday sometime, so don't feel like I'm ignoring your suggestions ^_^

Thanks xxx

I have 2 from them on there. :) I'm particularly looking at movies though, not shows. So I'll keep snooping around. If you know another movie from them, let me know!

I would add The Ghosts In Our Machine. It comes out early in 2013.

Quote:
With the exception of our companion animals and a few wild and stray species within our urban environments, we experience animals daily only as the food, clothing, animal tested goods and entertainment we make of them. This moral dilemma is often hidden from our view, and 99% of consumers are complicit …

THE GHOSTS IN OUR MACHINE - DOCUMENTARY is a cinematic feature length film that illuminates the lives of individual animals living within and rescued from the machine of our modern world. Through the heart and photographic lens of protagonist Jo-Anne McArthur we become intimately familiar with a cast of non-human animal characters.

"The connection that I have to animals while I'm photographing them is one of empathy. There is a huge mistreatment and inequality between human and non-human animals,
and that's always in the forefront of my mind."

The film shines a light on the complex social issue of animal rights within the context of our voracious consumer driven world. A diverse cast of voices contribute to the moral question posed: Are animals property to be owned and used, or are animals sentient beings deserving of rights?

THE GHOSTS IN OUR MACHINE - INTERACTIVE is an online multi-platform environment that unfolds over the lifespan of the project, including an upcoming immersive story by Webby award winning Interactive Directors The Goggles (Adbusters, Welcome to Pine Point). It will be prominently featured on the homepage of The Ghosts In Our Machine website and released with the film in 2013. This interactive narrative explores the questions and issues of animal rights.

Maximum Tolerated Dose: http://maximumtolerateddose.org/about
Quote:
Maximum Tolerated Dose (MTD): An animal / human experiment to find the highest dose of a chemical that, when administered to a group of test subjects in a clinical trial, does not result in a fatality due to short-term toxicity. This dose is then used for longer-term safety studies of the same species, lasting anywhere from two years to a lifetime. The MTD test is controversial, however, in part because of difficulties in extrapolating findings to more realistic doses, and in extrapolating results from animals to humans.

Maximum Tolerated Dose is the first feature-length documentary by Decipher Films. Equal parts found-footage mash-up, verité investigation, and artful meditation, the film charts the lives of both humans and non-humans who have experienced animal testing first-hand, with hauntingly honest testimony of scientists and lab technicians whose ethics demanded they choose a different path, as well as the simultaneously heartwarming and heartbreaking stories of animals who have seen both sides of the cage. MTD aims to re-ignite the debate about animal testing by bringing these rarely-heard perspectives to the fore.

I'm just worried about copyrights. If it looks like you can buy a movie, I try to refrain from putting it up fully on the site.

By the way, I added tons new stuff. As you can tell....haven't really been studying :(

I wouldn't download trailers, it's always a risk for the computer, viruses and stuff. Youtube has plenty of trailers. Or the official site if there is one.

Honestly i don't care too much about copyrights for such documentaries. Sure i am buying to encourage further such adventures, but considering that the aim of a documentary, especially on veggie matters, is to spread info, i do not hesitate to share them large and wide. And those who see it can buy it.

There is some studies showing that copyright is actually anti-business, or more correctly, that sharing and spreading copyrighted stuff illegaly actually results in a better business since people who otherwise wouldn't even hear about it now know about it, and are more likely to buy either the product, sometimes to offer it to a friend or relative, or more often it produces side sells like t shirts, concert tickets etc. Some musicians, TV series and even movies are known to promote more or less openly the stealing of their copyrighted material, invoking mainly that they haven't done their documentary or else for money as long as the costs are covered, and in the backrooms because it promotes them, especially the new starting people, while the big ones don't have really anything to loose and it's good for their image.

If PETA ever makes me copyright problems, i'm seriously going to question their motivation for spreading their message.

yeah, I basically got all the trailers on the site from youtube.

There was a film I saw on the site FilmsForAction, that got copyright claimed. I think it was originally from youtube. It's just something I'd rather not be connected with so I'd rather stay safe with trailers. People can at least get a gist of the movie, and usually if people actually want to see it, all they have to do is go to youtube and they will likely have a full video somewhere, liklier if it's older, but I can still find some documentaries on youtube that are uploaded from different language speaking places so I guess they slide by the wayside.
