I've seen many interviews where Alicia has brought into the conversation about being vegan. Yesterday I bought Tatler and there is a wonderful big interview in it (Alicia is on the front cover too!) which was done in her favourite vegan restaurant in LA. She discussed why and when she became vegan and about her lifestyle. It's a great interview and a wonderful spotlight for veganism.

Oh, I didn't know she was a vegan! Awesome.

Although I have to say that it's not so awesome that she wants to be naked in PETA's crappy ads.

I don't think there is anything wrong with nakedness???

No, I don't think so either.

I think there's something wrong with the way PETA uses women in its campaigns, though. Meh, that's another topic for the Heap anyway.

Sex sells.

ETA: People already think they're a bunch of fruit loops. If they went the other way; add stuffy, uptight prudes to that lists, and even fewer people would take them seriously.

Yeah, that's true!

I mean, hey, if people want to strip for PETA, that's their right. It's just pretty bad when a group like PETA has to resort to that kind of stuff to get attention. And usually it's the wrong attention anyway (since people think they're fruit loops ).

It's just depressing to see women portrayed like that, especially by an "animal rights" group or whatever we want to call them.

Or she can respect herself enough not to have body imagine problems like most people do in westernized countries. Also what's disgusting about a beautiful women(s) (such as Alicia) body being nude, trust me most of the guys around here go to the beach in speedos and do not have the body to pull it off and I think that's disguising, but it's their right.

I love a good celeb vegan...

It really does help public image. Maybe veganism will be the next South Beach.

Naked girls definately get attention. You can't get public outrage without attention.

I never really understood the naked=slutty thing. I think it's pretty obvious when people don't respect themselves.

She has a lot of respect for herself. That's an ignorant attitude to take.

While I'm not a fan of any kind of exploitation, I certainly will not condemn someone that exploits him or herself for a cause... Though I feel bad for the media getting exploited for the attention... Not.

I will. I have no respect for PeTA's 'i'd rather go naked...' campaign and those who are in it and support it.

Yay, let's exploit women to show people that exploiting animals is wrong!

I think nakedness for a cause is different than nakedness for one's money/survival, etc. I would not say that she is being exploited.

Because female nudity is sometimes a part of oppression, does not mean that all female nudity comes from oppression or contributes to it.

There is a difference between artistic nudity and using sexy female bodies to get attention. You don't see any 200-pound women going naked for PeTA do you?

PeTA isn't using nudity as a symbol of beauty. They're using it to get attention, and are objectifying women and women's bodies to promote a message.

I think Alicia's old enough and mature enough to decide for herself whether or not she's actually being exploited.
