Before I start, I would like to point out that I am not a "regular" reader of Shape Magazine. I swear I only read it for the articles......

But anyhoo, Shape Magazine has a feature this month on Alicia Silverstone. The article is surprisingly positive about veganism and how being vegan has helped her become healthier.

Just wanted to pass that along.

She's also in "Redbook". I don't normally read the celebrity interviews as they don't interest me. However, I scanned that one and she very openly talks about her veganism in a mag that even has meat in the sidedishes. Yay.

Peace and blessings,

Laura

Last month's Shape had "No Meat Required" as well, a feature on meatless recipes. They usually have at least one vegetarian recipe per issue (not much, I know, but sometimes they have more). I recall them also doing a feature on the best ice-cream bars out there last summer, and they included two "soy-cream" bars. I like that magazine.

She was vegetarian prior to being vegan as what I was told when I met her months ago.

I saw her on the cover but i didnt read the article. It sounds positive and she's by far the only celebrity that speaks out clearly and far... she should be the face of PeTA not Pam Anderson.

The minute she becomes the face for PETA, she loses all credibility with mainstream society. Nothing personal against PETA. That's just the way society happens to view that organization.

Personally, I prefer Alicia the way she is. She talks about her veganism--whenever she can, actually--in a non-shoving-it-down-your-throat way. I think young people, especially, are likely to hear her message.

No joke: When I went veg*n for the second time (after spending my college years as an omni), it was because of an Alicia Silverstone interview in some magazine (I think Self).

Alicia HAS been the face of PETA. She was featured on the cover of PETA's Shopping Guide for Caring Consumers book about three years ago. She has been featured in PETA's Animal Times magazine on a constant basis. She's involved with PETA and lends her face and name to their causes.

Yeah, I thought Alicia Silverstone was pretty involved with PETA. She even wants to do a tacky nude ad for them.

I think it's cool she talks about it in magazines - it exposes a lot of people to it who usually get their information about the lifestyle from the wrong sources.

My sister is finally considering veganism to be a positive, possible move after reading that article. Thanks Alicia.

Even if she never goes vegan, my sis at least won't be giving me the "you are the weirdest person on the planet" look anymore when it comes to my diet / lifestyle.
