HI, I'm going camping soon in Oregon for a week and I don't know what I should take for meals. I'm going with 9 meat-eaters , and this is my first time camping being a vegan (I'm the only one), so I have no idea what I should take besides the obvious trail mix and such for snacks. If anybody has any advice on what they eat while camping I would really appreciate it!! Thanks!!

when I camp I bring, fruit, veggies, hummus, and often I bring stuff for burritos. Like black beans or refried beans, rice, the veggies can go in too.

If you like veggie burgers or soy dogs that is always an option. You can bring vegan baked beans if you want a more traditional camp fire food.

You can bring sandwich stuff. Snacky things like chips and salsa work...

pretty much anything you would normally eat, so long as it doesn't require a full kitchen. Maybe make a big chili there or ahead of time.

Best bet is to prepare food befor eyou go and then you'll have plenty.

Hormel Vegetarian Chili. Bring enough for everybody, tear off the labels and see if the meat-eaters can tell the difference!

Thanks for all the suggestions. Melindas-no I won't be backpacking in, so I will be able to take a small cooler to take food in.

www.maryjanesfarm.com Extremely wide variety of vegetarian, vegan, and raw food designed specifically for camping. Never tried it, but it looks amazing.

There was another thread about camping just the other day. Here's what I posted in that thread:

Quote:

There are some good ideas here:

http://www.vegsource.com/talk/beginn...es/147567.html

I would also suggest doing an advanced search here on VB: enter camping as the keyword and limit your search to the food forums.

The whole "Do a search" advice? Best idea yet. I've already answered most of my questions without ever having to post a single thread.

That said, here's a great link to more camping recipes that look YUMMY!

http://www.vegcooking.com/campingrecipes.asp
