As vegetarians and vegans, I think that all of us should be pro-life. However, I must admit that as a relatively new veggie, I have this notion that most of us are liberal (and are pro-abortion) and the conservative people are meat-eaters (and pro-life). Perhaps this poll will convince me otherwise.

By the way, the choices should read "pro-choice" and "pro-life". It's possible to be "pro-choice", yet not call oneself "pro-abortion".<br><br><br><br>

I also consider myself to be liberal.... (Actually when it comes to issues of war, finances, and the press, I am liberal. When it comes to issues of abortion and a lot of moral issues, I am conservative.)

I'm pro-life. All life. Including the life of the mother.<br><br><br><br>
Generally I am against abortion but I know in this society there can be tremendous pressure on the mother who may be in a very difficult situation and the psychological impact could be more violence than abortion, imo. I'm definately against abortion in cases where there is little or no psychological impact on the mother or where there in no physical threat (eg death due to birth) to the mother. I'm not in favour of abortion for birth control.<br><br><br><br>
The most striking stories for me are the ones where the mothers have felt so overwhelmed that they kill their babies right after birth (that happened in my home town -- so sad for all involved) and the ones where the babies that are aborted end up surviving. I think here in Canada the law is if the baby comes out breathing the team must to everything in their power to save the baby.<br><br><br><br>
In general I'm not really in favor of laws to enforce moral laws. I'm not sure if I would vote in favor of an abortion law if there was a referendum.<br><br><br><br>

I'm anti-roe v. wade, which means that I consider that supreme court decision a power grabbing example of legislation from the bench by the once very liberal activist supreme court. If Roe v. Wade was overturned it would become a state issue. Then I'm pro-choice in that people are going to get abortions anyway, making something illegal isn't going to make it disappear. Abortion should be safe, legal and not paid for by my tax dollars (get "family planning" organizations to set up more no interest abortion loans if they must). Also, a fetus is a person <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="/images/smilies/baby.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title=":baby:">

I had to put pro-abortion, but that's not entirely true. I wouldn't get an abortion myself, but I think it's important that people get to make that choice themselves. The term pro-abortion doesn't really sit well with me because while I think it should be an option, I'd much prefer that people use contraceptives effectively and don't need to get abortions.

The term "pro-life" is meaningless. I am alive, I want to remain alive, so I could be considered "pro-life" in my book, even if I am in full support of legal abortion. Using the term "pro-abortion" implies that one desires to have abortions performed, so this is a misleading term also. I am in the support of legalization and decriminalization of illegal drugs, but that doesn't make me pro-crack. If someone wants to be a racist, sexist a-shole, he or she should be able to legally do so, and speak his or her mind, but I am certainly not pro-bigotry. Then there are rollerbladers, whom I despise - I am anti-rollerblading, but I think that people should have the choice to rollerblade. Just because one thinks an activity should be legal doesn't mean that that one is in support of it.
